CHARACTER
Name: Rinne Amagi Canon: Ensemble Stars!! Canon point: Chapter 155, before he disowns Hiiro Age: 21
Summary:
Amagi Rinne is the kind and intelligent son of a village chief who, bored of a life without freedom and unable to withstand the incredible pressure placed upon him, runs away from home to follow his dream of becoming an idol. But once his dreams are crushed after he tries becoming an idol the proper way, he realizes that he won't achieve his goal by following convention, so he reinvents himself into the Amagi Rinne we know today — big, bold, and irreverent leader of the troublemaker idol unit Crazy:B, with the charisma and talent to show for it.
Rinne does his best to embody gambling, seeing it as a form of freedom he never had in the village. He's impulsive and a fast-talker, quick to come up with excuses on the fly just to get his way; he doesn't like being denied anything, especially his way of life. He hates following the rules, but he has his own code: whenever he receives a favor, he makes sure to repay it. Because of how he is treated in the village as a monarch and in the city as worse than trash, he feels like an outsider wherever he goes, longing to find a place where he can belong and seeking acceptance for who he truly is.
He acts annoying, cruel and thick-skinned because of his pride, knowing that his kindness won't get him anywhere, as he thinks that showing his true feelings are a sign of weakness. Possessing a strong desire to be the perfect brother Hiiro can be proud of, and racked with guilt for abandoning Hiiro in a village that doesn't care for him, Rinne's self-esteem is actually dismal, so he tends to engage in self-destructive behaviors. Although Rinne doesn't show it, he has a big heart — he values freedom above all else and wants to inspire that in others as well, but he's willing to sacrifice anything for the people he considers his family.
Powers/abilities: Due to his natural genius and upbringing as his father's successor, Rinne is intelligent. He has a knack for teaching due to Hiiro's curiosity (but this doesn't mean any of his lessons enter Niki's head). He is the mastermind behind all of Crazy:B's plans to win whatever insane idol tournament they have to win next, and he uses his smarts to minimize his losses for every "gamble" he makes. He also likes referencing literature, history and philosophy while spouting anti-capitalist rhetoric a lot. He just pretends he's stupid to fuck with people.
He is also proficient in an obscure school of martial arts passed down his family for generations. He's better at it than Hiiro, and he's good enough to hide his presence and dodge every single one of Hiiro's attacks. Please don't ask me what Enstars is about.
Since becoming an idol, Rinne has gotten a lot of skills under his belt aside from singing, such as dancing, public speaking, modeling, and acting. He can also read music and play the guitar and the piano.
Inventory: His smartphone and a lapel microphone. He'll be wearing his idol costume — he was kind of on the run!
OTHER
Sentimental item: The chopsticks Niki used to feed him the first time they met. If Niki didn't save him from starvation that day, Rinne probably wouldn't have survived on the streets of Tokyo for long. Gemstone: red like maple leaves and yellow like honey!
Lost memory #1: His dream of becoming an idol. Lost memory #2: His personal life with Niki, from the day Niki picked him off the street, fed him, and let him stay at his apartment. Niki's kindness is the reason Rinne was able to survive his trip to the city after running away from his village, and the reason he was able to get a foot in the door in the idol industry. In Austice, he'll only remember Niki as a co-worker he gets along with and teases a lot. He doesn't have a best friend! Hahaha... Altered memory: In canon, their mother passed away before Hiiro could remember her. In Austice, Rinne will think their mother is still alive. Instead of Rinne, it will have been their mother who took care of Hiiro when everyone else was strict on him and neglected him. With this knowledge, it'll be heavier on Rinne's conscience to disown Hiiro in ES and return to their village. He might also be a little jealous of Hiiro too, since he'll think that Hiiro had all of their mother's affection.
