CHARACTER

Name: Wave Kieadon Calerin
Canon: Original; I've got a quick-ish writeup of stuff up until game here
Canon point: Deciding not to let Dusk rule her life anymore--this will result in a somewhat "abnormal state of being" in behavior, as Wave is flip-flopping between the learned behaviors she's taken on to keep herself safe and how she actually wants to act, so contradictions will pop up from time to time!
Age: 24

Summary: Wave is a young woman who might have grown up content(ish) with her lot in life if not for having been isekai'd into another world at age 21. Growing up a noble without magic in a society that basically worships it, Wave was aware from a young age that she would be expected to marry a powerful mage that could take care of her and make up for her lack of power. But while traveling the worlds with a cast of odd characters and accidentally falling in love with the worst of the lot, Wave discovered that she was capable of a lot more than she or the rest of her world had ever given her credit for and that she liked making her own rules and being in control of her own destiny. Suddenly waking back up in Coriolis (after someone else found the Macguffin and used it to recreate their worlds) was like a getting hit with a bucket of cold water, especially since she and Ailanne had gotten so close, and Wave would have given anything to leave her world behind again.

After returning to Coriolis, Wave was married to Dusk, a master manipulator, the type of man who could stab somebody and then convince them that they'd done it to themselves and he was only there trying to help heal them. He took advantage of Wave's naivety and willingness to trust to convince her that he'd help her leave their world again, if only they could do xyz to help him establish himself first... It took almost two full years for Wave to realize that he'd always seek something more, that he'd never be satisfied and help her leave Coriolis. By this point, Wave had all but erased herself to become the "perfect wife" Dusk had sought, someone to help him raise his standing at court. Now, she's trying to claw back the person she used to be, to remember the reckless fool of a woman that tries to ride into battle armed with nothing more than a dagger and a riding crop rather and not the meek, docile woman that follows her husband's orders to hide in the carriage instead.

Powers/abilities: Does somehow remaining incredibly naive and trusting count as a power? Because that's about the extent of it... no, okay, so Wave is a normal human being. She has no propensity for magic, though it can be used on her without issue. She's got an intermediate level of skill with the twin daggers she fights with, and is a bit more competent at defending herself with a single, smaller dagger (this isn't to say she'll be taking anyone on and winning, but she did receive formal lessons on how to use her hidden dagger to defend herself long enough for a guard to step in, lmao). Wave is also reasonably competent at field medicine, having been taught by her mother. She's not a surgeon, not a doctor, and will not try to be, but she knows triage, she's done god-knows-how-many sets of sutures on injured warriors and guards, she can help run a field hospital, and she has a number of recipes for different tinctures, balms, poultices, and medicines passed down to her. Most of these are nature-based since Coriolis hasn't hit its industrial age yet, so their usefulness here is anyone's guess, but she can at least try??

Inventory: This very incongruous outfit with all its petticoats and nonsense (half-demolished after a TDM thread), a small dagger in a garter, and her bag, which she got outside of Coriolis and is basically a bag of holding. Inside it will be a pair of daggers and its maintenance kit (whetstone, oil, a couple of cloths), a pair of boots, a placemat-sized piece of woven cloth dyed a little bit like a galaxy and shot with silver, some basic first-aid supplies (mostly bandages), and an origami flower.

(Question for the mod: Assuming her bag of holding runs on hammerspace rules (let me know if I'm mistaken!), will her bag be able to hold anything further beyond this, such as her sentimental item or a change of clothes if she gets them in town? Or is it just a case of limiting what players can bring into the setting, be reasonable about using it-type deal?)

OTHER

Sentimental item: A molded eye patch/partial mask made to cover someone's left eye from forehead to jaw. This belongs to Scar, a man Wave knew as a child and reconnected with shortly before their world was lost. The two of them ventured together outside the worlds for a time, but were separated; when she returned to Coriolis, it was as though he'd never existed in the first place. Wave has a lot of complex feelings about this, since the two of them might have had something if she hadn't met Ailanne and because if their world hadn't been lost, she likely would have married him rather than Dusk, which would've probably???? been okay?? There's guilt, too, because a part of her can't let go of the idea that it was her fault that he never returned home (and in her mind, probably died), because she hadn't cared enough to go and find him after they'd been separated. That it's her fault because she chose to stay with Ai.

Gemstone: A Portuguese-cut gemstone of a dark blue-grey, similar to the color of waves during rough weather. Its secondary color is a bright golden-yellow that reflects the light. Though there are some facets that feel a bit rougher than others, the most notable damage is the center facet, which is clouded and foggy.

Lost memory #1: Ailanne. While Wave will remember her travels through the worlds, she won't remember his part in it or that he was important to her. The biggest effect from this is that she won't remember what it felt like to have a relationship with somebody that felt truly unconditional--and considering everything with Dusk was very conditional, it'll affect how she sees herself/how she believes others perceive her and the relationships she builds here.

Lost memory #2: Meeting with Thana, a Seer, and talking about what would happen in Wave's future (results were inconclusive). The cloth Wave carries was woven during this meeting and soaked in a font of pure magic for Thana to read; after, Thana gave it to Wave for safekeeping since it's basically a part of her given form.

Altered memory: Her betrothal to Dusk. While Wave had originally been tentatively betrothed to Dusk prior to leaving Coriolis, she'll remember instead that she was betrothed to Scar and their journey to Anire (the capital) was to test the waters prior to making it official. It was only after returning home and Scar seemingly disappearing from their entire history that she was betrothed to Dusk instead.

Sample: Turns out Wave responds much better to assholes than people who read as kind.
