BONUS AC
AC for the current month must be completed before requesting bonuses for that month. For new characters, AC must be submitted in lieu of the check in.
Each bonus is submitted as a bundle of three threads, which cannot be used for AC and must have a minimum of five comments from you. Threads have no expiration date and can be banked for the future, but each character is restricted to five bonuses each calendar month.
Bonuses must have an impact on the character, which can be as simple as a favorite food, or as poignant as a memento from a loved one. They cannot be a living creature. Bonuses can be common items (such as food, clothing, and tools) which are ICly requested by the character, or canon specific items (owned by the character) which are OOCly requested. Once general NPCs are unlocked, characters will ICly submit requests to the town head, who will work to acquire resources either from within the town or to be imported via train. Canon specific items will appear in a variety of ways.

Which... is this contraband? He leans a little closer to the window, as if to see what's inside the package. ]
What is it?
no subject
... my medicine. [Then, to explain:] I'm the only one who can make it.
[And only with Marcus' help, to be more specific, which is what makes it even odder.]
It can't have come from anywhere other than my world...
no subject
[ What does the medicine look like, if it's a white powder then his first thought would've been meth, because why else would Phil look so excited
He's kind of disappointed ]
Are you ill?
no subject
-- but no, it's just pills, alas. Nothing so exciting as meth.
At the question, Phil's expression shifts, becoming a little more sober, a little sad.]
... in a sense. This medicine is what keeps my condition from deteriorating too quickly.
no subject
...That means yes.
[ "no i'm not sick i'm just dying" phil, please, ]
You have been without for quite a while, then... It is not too late, as long as you resume taking the medicine?
[ How long have they all been here? almost two months, that feels very fake. It's a long time to be dying, but Lark has seen people hold on for much longer. ]
no subject
No, it shouldn't affect me too badly. [...] If things continue following their current progression, I should have around ten years left.
[He's seen it firsthand, watched Demitrius grow weaker and weaker... he knows exactly what's coming and about how long it will take.]
no subject
[ That's a relief, and Lark lets out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding. ]
You will make it to old age, then.
no subject
Old... age?
[Does he really look that old? Because he's pretty sure he wouldn't class most likely dying in his mid-40s as "old age," but...]
no subject
[ He's pretty sure Phil is an adult, definitely older than 20, possibly older than 30, no way he's 40 yet because that's just about the average life expectancy.
... ]
no subject
[He both does and doesn't want to hear the answer to that question.]
no subject
27?
no subject
[...]
Does that mean people in this world don't tend to live past their forties or fifties, then?
no subject
In this world...? I am unsure. Most are young, but people do not typically stay long enough for me to know, either. [ Actually, considering things like poisoned orange juice and heart ripping monsters, the average age of death is probably a lot lower than 40's and 50's for people here, huh ]
...Do people live much longer, from what you know?
no subject
[He'll never see either of those ages, but. He accepted that much a long time ago.]
But what do you mean by 'stay long enough'? They leave this place before that? Via the boat?
no subject
Some by boat. Others are taken, or choose to leave on their own. ...Some disappear, and I do not know how or why.
no subject
[That's uncomfortable, to say the least. In a place like this, where it's clear there's something wrong with... the entire town, honestly...]
And I assume they're never seen or heard from again. That's... usually how the story goes, isn't it?
no subject
[ He agrees, shuffling his feet uneasily. ]
Rarely, some people return, after we believed them lost. They do not always remember the town, or its people... It is not a cause for celebration, returning.
no subject
[Phil notes that unease and chooses to say nothing about it.]
But at least that way you know that when they leave... they aren't necessarily going to their deaths. Even if they don't remember you - or this place - when they return.
[There's some uncertainty of his own creeping into his voice here. It's not as though he has any right to be bothered by the idea of memory alteration, but...]
no subject
You are right: it is not necessarily true that they die.
[ Is that better? worse? he doesn't know. ]
...If you are afraid, do not be. Old man Crow says that your time will come when you are ready.
no subject
[But perhaps that's a question for another time. The smile that curls at the corner of his lips is accepting, albeit with a hint of distant sadness.]
... no, I don't think I'm afraid. Not anymore. I'm not going to be alone when the time does come.
no subject
...is that so? How... [ he looks down, pursing his lips, then back up ]
How do you come to not be afraid?
no subject
"Hey, Marcus. Will you stay with me from here on out? Even when the time comes for me to go to... whatever lies beyond this world? I've already made up my mind, but if you change yours, make sure to let me know while I can still use my powers so it won't be too late."
"... yeah. I'll be sure to let you know right away when I fall out of love."
How ironic that it had been that simple.]
I made a promise with someone-- that we'd be together right until the end. So no matter what happens... what lies beyond, I'm not going to be facing it by myself. As long as I remember that, I'm not afraid.
And... if I can help fix the things I've done and protect the world, then I won't have any regrets.
no subject
[ "'til death do us part" yes he understands now. He can defeat his fear of death by getting married.
...that doesn't stop the regrets, though. The fear of the beyond, the solitary life he led, things he's done that cannot be fixed. ]
no subject
[TURNING ABSOLUTELY SCARLET NOW but Lark isn't exactly wrong.]
... a-anyway, that isn't the important part. It's the idea of not being alone when it happens and knowing that you've done all you can do, if that makes any sense.
no subject
...marriage fraud?
[ That must be it. Look at Phil turning red from shame. ]
Or do you mean a suicide pact...?
[ ?? you're losing him, Phil. From his understanding, married couples— legally married or not— don't typically ensure they die together. Too many times death is by happenstance; to guarantee it would be taking it into their own hands. That's going a bit too far, he thinks. ]
