BONUS AC
AC for the current month must be completed before requesting bonuses for that month. For new characters, AC must be submitted in lieu of the check in.
Each bonus is submitted as a bundle of three threads, which cannot be used for AC and must have a minimum of five comments from you. Threads have no expiration date and can be banked for the future, but each character is restricted to five bonuses each calendar month.
Bonuses must have an impact on the character, which can be as simple as a favorite food, or as poignant as a memento from a loved one. They cannot be a living creature. Bonuses can be common items (such as food, clothing, and tools) which are ICly requested by the character, or canon specific items (owned by the character) which are OOCly requested. Once general NPCs are unlocked, characters will ICly submit requests to the town head, who will work to acquire resources either from within the town or to be imported via train. Canon specific items will appear in a variety of ways.

[ Hopefully Phil is resting in bed like a good boy and Lark doesn't have to do much searching outside of knocking on Phil's bedroom window. As expected, he's carrying an unmarked package from an anonymous sender. The amount of medicine he receives is player's choice ]
no subject
Yes, that's me...
[He'll take the package and turn it over in his hands with a quizzical expression, as if looking for anything that might indicate the sender.]
This is for me? You're sure of that?
no subject
I am sure. You are Phillip Reston, and I do not make mistakes.
[ in postal delivery, anyways. But remembering people's names and faces is a point of pride for a mailman. ]
no subject
Even more curious now, he opens the package with more than a bit of trepidation, only to have his eyes go wide once he realizes just what's inside.]
-- ! This is... where did you-- well, no, you wouldn't know where it came from if you're just the one who delivered it... but how did someone get this?
[Not that he isn't immensely grateful, but.]
no subject
Which... is this contraband? He leans a little closer to the window, as if to see what's inside the package. ]
What is it?
no subject
... my medicine. [Then, to explain:] I'm the only one who can make it.
[And only with Marcus' help, to be more specific, which is what makes it even odder.]
It can't have come from anywhere other than my world...
no subject
[ What does the medicine look like, if it's a white powder then his first thought would've been meth, because why else would Phil look so excited
He's kind of disappointed ]
Are you ill?
no subject
-- but no, it's just pills, alas. Nothing so exciting as meth.
At the question, Phil's expression shifts, becoming a little more sober, a little sad.]
... in a sense. This medicine is what keeps my condition from deteriorating too quickly.
no subject
...That means yes.
[ "no i'm not sick i'm just dying" phil, please, ]
You have been without for quite a while, then... It is not too late, as long as you resume taking the medicine?
[ How long have they all been here? almost two months, that feels very fake. It's a long time to be dying, but Lark has seen people hold on for much longer. ]
no subject
No, it shouldn't affect me too badly. [...] If things continue following their current progression, I should have around ten years left.
[He's seen it firsthand, watched Demitrius grow weaker and weaker... he knows exactly what's coming and about how long it will take.]
no subject
[ That's a relief, and Lark lets out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding. ]
You will make it to old age, then.
no subject
Old... age?
[Does he really look that old? Because he's pretty sure he wouldn't class most likely dying in his mid-40s as "old age," but...]
no subject
[ He's pretty sure Phil is an adult, definitely older than 20, possibly older than 30, no way he's 40 yet because that's just about the average life expectancy.
... ]
no subject
[He both does and doesn't want to hear the answer to that question.]
no subject
27?
no subject
[...]
Does that mean people in this world don't tend to live past their forties or fifties, then?
no subject
In this world...? I am unsure. Most are young, but people do not typically stay long enough for me to know, either. [ Actually, considering things like poisoned orange juice and heart ripping monsters, the average age of death is probably a lot lower than 40's and 50's for people here, huh ]
...Do people live much longer, from what you know?
no subject
[He'll never see either of those ages, but. He accepted that much a long time ago.]
But what do you mean by 'stay long enough'? They leave this place before that? Via the boat?
no subject
Some by boat. Others are taken, or choose to leave on their own. ...Some disappear, and I do not know how or why.
no subject
[That's uncomfortable, to say the least. In a place like this, where it's clear there's something wrong with... the entire town, honestly...]
And I assume they're never seen or heard from again. That's... usually how the story goes, isn't it?
no subject
[ He agrees, shuffling his feet uneasily. ]
Rarely, some people return, after we believed them lost. They do not always remember the town, or its people... It is not a cause for celebration, returning.
no subject
[Phil notes that unease and chooses to say nothing about it.]
But at least that way you know that when they leave... they aren't necessarily going to their deaths. Even if they don't remember you - or this place - when they return.
[There's some uncertainty of his own creeping into his voice here. It's not as though he has any right to be bothered by the idea of memory alteration, but...]
no subject
You are right: it is not necessarily true that they die.
[ Is that better? worse? he doesn't know. ]
...If you are afraid, do not be. Old man Crow says that your time will come when you are ready.
no subject
[But perhaps that's a question for another time. The smile that curls at the corner of his lips is accepting, albeit with a hint of distant sadness.]
... no, I don't think I'm afraid. Not anymore. I'm not going to be alone when the time does come.
no subject
...is that so? How... [ he looks down, pursing his lips, then back up ]
How do you come to not be afraid?
