CHARACTER

Name: Kokichi Oma
Canon: Danganronpa (V3: Killing Harmony)
Canon point: Post-Ch5
Age: 19

Summary: A pierrot who never fails to entertain no matter the cost. Kokichi is a complicated little guy - he hides his true personality under a veil of secrecy, he's constantly calculating, and he never lets down his guard unless he's very, very comfortable or if he absolutely has to (especially when he views any situation as particularly volatile). He was admitted to the Gifted Inmates Academy under the title of Ultimate Supreme Leader - a very questionable title that Kokichi claims is because he leads a secret organization with over 10,000 members (this is a lie - his secret organization, DICE, is a small group with 10-ish members that mostly specializes in hacktivism). Post-admission into the academy, he was roped into a killing game where he played the part of a challenging rival to Shuichi Saihara, Ultimate Detective, who sought to discover the mysteries of the academy...and Kaito Momota, Ultimate Astronaut, who saw Kokichi as the 'villain' to his 'hero', and Kokichi found no reason to dissuade that notion. After all, every story needs a villain. It's just that their story always ends tragically...which his did, as well. But, something that could be said in that situation and others...Kokichi is never boring. Just how he likes it.

Powers/abilities: Kokichi has intelligence that could be considered on-par with genius level. He's not superhuman levels of intelligent, but he's definitely incredibly smart as far as humans go. He's cunning and capable, and his ability to craft lies without flinching is remarkable. He's also very good at reading others, and can usually tell whether someone is lying or not by reading into their words and body language. He's perceptive to a fault.

His investigative skills are nothing to be sneezed at, either - although Kokichi is liable to hide the full extent of his information from others, he's very adept at gathering it and is able to make leaps in logic some others might not be able to keep up with, which makes him inclined to assume that most just can't keep up with his logic period. Eventually, he'll usually be willing to come out with the truth, but it'll take some finagling to get there...usually in the form of interesting or amusing him enough or seeming like you can keep up with his thoughts.

He's remarkably convincing and persuasive even towards those who feel they shouldn't trust him. He's naturally adept at swaying people to his side, something displayed with his Ultimate talent of Ultimate Supreme Leader. He's a naturally inclined leader, and knows how to work crowds to get them to see his perspective as the best one, so long as they're not too stubborn - but even if they are, he's able to use that, too. He's no stranger to acting and playing any role he needs to, including being a villain. His organization at home, DICE (according to my HCs), acted as a bit of a home for runaways like himself and kids without a safe place to go, so he's very used to talking to kids in particular, too.

Kokichi is also adept with computers and hacking - my headcanon being that his organization at home, DICE, acted as a 'hacktivist' organization (on top of a hideaway for runaways), so he knows how to use computers and technology to accomplish his goals pretty well. He's also able to come up with blueprints for inventions fairly easily, including mechanisms inside them, though he usually never has no hand in creating them himself (he's outsourced to the Ultimate Inventor before), even if he most likely probably could, though perhaps not at the quality he'd like them to be.

Inventory: 1 School ID, 1 Shuichi's hat (sentimental item), along with the clothes on his back (he's not wearing a shirt at this canonpoint and is only wearing a white jacket with space patterns on the inside belonging to one Kaito Momota on his upper body)

OTHER

Sentimental item: Shuichi's hat. A hat that signified Shuichi Saihara taking center stage in the killing game, as he tossed it away after his friend Kaede's death and when his resolve was strengthened. Shuichi existed primarily as Kokichi's rival - someone he admired - and someone who he sought to bring out the best in by existing as his rival. Kokichi remembers the hat quite well (and making fun of it in turn), but he considers it a precious possession.
Gemstone: Purple (primary), pink (secondary). The gem is teardrop shaped and is primarily purple with pink twinges near the bottom. It reminds Kokichi himself of blood. It is very cleanly polished. The damage to it, however...resembles a jagged lightning bolt going across it from the upper right. It should look like Monokuma's eye.

Lost memory #1: His death. Kokichi has forgotten the memory of his demise and his plan with the linoleum press, only leaving him with memories up to the point where Maki threatened him in the hangar with the idea that he was a remnant of Despair. This has left him with a bit less trust in his classmates overall, and a lot more uncertainty concerning where the 5th trial went. He's certain at this point that the 5th trial is for Maki murdering him, but he can't say for sure.
Lost memory #2: Trial 4. Kokichi cannot remember Trial 4, leaving him unaware of how he steered Gonta in the wrong direction and led to his demise, nor that Miu was killed. He's aware neither were present after that, but his memories want to fill in the gap in the wrong ways - he's not blaming himself as much, but if he ever remembers, he'll be filled with guilt. It's a relief, but it's also a shoe waiting to drop.
Altered memory: The door he discovered was opened instead, showing an outside world that seemed to be apocalyptic. Even if they were released, the students of the academy were destined to die no matter what. This makes him a lot more comfortable in the fact that he's passed away (or at least is convinced he has), but has left the other students with a lot more uncertainty and hopelessness.

CHARACTER

Name: Mayoi Ayase
Canon: Ensemble Stars!! Mayoi link and Canon link
Canon point: Feather-light Brush of Small Wings Event
Age: 18

Summary: Mayoi is an anxious shut-in who would sooner climb into the ceiling than have a face-to-face conversation with another person. He is extremely self deprecating, who frequently tears himself to pieces the moment he lets a shred of confidence slip by him, fears having attention centered on him, and was, until very recently, living in the basement of a corporate entertainment building. He is also an idol.

Not only is he an idol, but he is so talented, with a voice so lovely, that he spent many years giving advice to young idols-in-training practicing alone, late at night, and garnered a reputation as a phantom who if you encounter him, is surely guaranteed to improve your ability tenfold. He did this all the while living in the vents and never actually showing up for class or meeting anyone. He is in fact, so poorly socialized that his concept of boundaries is very poor and he often uses his vent scuttling to watch people without their permission. He is aware of this bad habit, and is actively working to better himself. His idol unit, ALKALOID, are invested in helping him get better because despite being a colossal suspicious weirdo, Mayoi is a very gentle and caring person, who really just wants to help others. He's a fusser and a worrywart and spends a lot of his time looking after the other members of his unit with little concern to his own needs and finds a lot of joy in teaching and guiding others.

So there you have it: Idol Phantom of the Opera who is about seven mental illnesses wrapped up in a trench coat doing his absolute best, and like ...succeeding about 60% of the time.

Powers/abilities:

Mayoi has no supernatural abilities that we know of, but Ensemble Stars is weird. It has canon vampires and witches and sometimes it will rule in favor of slapstick or shock value rather than realism so I am going to talk a little about Mayoi and his specific weirdness.

Mayoi can canonly will himself out of existence so well that in an effort to not inconvenience his roomate, he made himself so quiet that his roomate thought he was being actively haunted instead of sharing a room. Mayoi can be standing in a corner, in the shadows, and blend in so well that he can go completely unnoticed. He has been called "As silent as the dead" and earned the nickname "phantom" as a result. I don't think this is inherently a supernatural ability, but it is abnormal and worth noting.

He does also have a number of other non-supernatural abilities worth noting. He's a singing and dancing prodigy, he's an excellent teacher and its something he's actually occasionally capable of being smug about, and he is extremely sharp and observant; for example, he can learn how to make complex dishes just by reading a menu. He is also good with tinkering with small electronics and working with small handicrafts. He apparently builds deadly traps out of small appliances and rigs the vents with them so people stay away from his possessions. Because that's normal. He also likes to build tiny dioramas. Cute!

Inventory: His autumn casual outfit, his phone, a stuffed bear, a copy of phantom of the opera, and a small travel sewing kit. These should all be within reach of each other in his dorm room.

OTHER

Sentimental item:

One of Shinobu's kunai blades. Shinobu is a very dear person to him, regardless of the memory he's going to end up losing of him.

Shinobu is the head of the Ninja association and Mayoi joined initially because of his attachment to Shinobu, but then eventually found purpose as a true member, wishing to believe in Shinobu's idealistic but lovely mantra of "Ninja's help others from the shadows". Mayoi sees being a ninja as something to strive for so that he may one day leave behind his identity as a phantom, which he finds a detestable reminder of what he hates most about himself.

Also I think Mayoi should have a knife. Get that kid a knife.

Gemstone: Clover shaped, black for its primary color with smatterings of purple that looks kind of like glitter. It is heavily scuffed, making the gem seem matte almost, and the glitter of purple almost impossible to see.

Lost memory #1: His job with the Dead End Cafe. This memory is important for several reasons. It's a job he took as a member of the Ninja Association with Shinobu and it leads to him coming to find pride in "being a ninja" over being a phantom that goes beyond his adoration of Shinobu. It makes him forget his catastrophic panic attack that he has working in the cafe, and then also takes away the moment where he realizes, that not only did Shinobu and the others working the cafe come to find him after he fled during said panic (he excused himself to use the restroom and then escaped out the window), but they were not angry at him for fleeing. They reassured him and then found a position for him to work back-of-house instead, managing orders and cooking dishes, where he thrived for the rest of the job. He came away from this experience bewildered by the capability of human kindness.

Mayoi views himself as subhuman and every little stride he takes with overcoming that happens because of the continued kindness of the people around him. Having this particular event wiped from memory is going to set him back on that progress.

Lost memory #2: Tatsumi's little Sunday drive. This one is a little silly but it has funny potential practical use. Tatsumi is the only member of their group with a drivers incense and right before their job performing at a Motorshow, he offered to take them on a drive since Hiiro had never been in a car before. Apparently his driving is so speedy and terrifying that it left Mayoi so afraid he outright fainted in the car, and any subsequent mentions of the word 'car' immediately has him in a panic, saying often in terror 'carscaryscarscarycarscary'. Without this memory he won't be so afraid of moving vehicles, and also if someone who knows him from canon ever comes along, they will know something is off immediately if he isn't just wholesale chihuahua vibrating at the sight of a vehicle.

Altered memory: How the MDM ended. The MDM is a huge Live that his unit was told to perform well in or be fired. It ended in them winning! And it basically guaranteed for a little while, that Mayoi and the rest of ALKALOID would be relatively safe from losing their jobs as idols. There was a lot of pride in that win and it gave them all hope for what they could accomplish in the future.

I'll change this so that they do not win against Crazy:B. They still clearly did not lose their jobs, as Mayoi will have later memories of them working as idols, but there will be a certain unease and urgency in regards to wanting to get back home. That feeling of accomplishment is dampened by the pressing anxiety of trying to stay in the good graces of his boss. This memory will give Mayoi the unshakable feeling of "being on thin ice" with his idol career.

CHARACTER

Name: Dimos
Canon: Nier Re[in]carnation
Canon point: From the end of his character story, shortly after Rion has died. He hasn't yet deteriorated physically or mentally.
Age: Unknown. However, he appears to be a grown man, and he's an 'older model', whatever that might mean.

Summary: Dimos is a stoic, blunt man made of clockwork and purposed for war. It turns out that he was first present during a military stoush lead by the eldest prince of his kingdom, and when the generals' tent is destroyed by their enemy, he forces the prince to escape.

The escape is not successful, but he does prevent an assassination attempt upon said prince. Afterwards, for disobeying orders given by the generals (to assassinate the prince himself, thus absolving them of culpability), his systems are reset and he's abandoned in a palace basement. When the very same prince, not recognising him as the Dimos model who saved him, comes along, Dimos once again overrides his programming for his benefit, and chooses to stop the war that the tyrannical King has started with every neighbouring kingdom.

From a war machine to a bodyguard for a peace broker, Dimos is accustomed to being recognised instantly as the former by civilians, and set upon as an enemy. However, he moves only in self-defence or by order of his chosen master, putting his entire existence into trying to achieve ideals he doesn't fully comprehend (like much of human emotion and desire). Even when the prince's terminal illness claims him at last, Dimos stays by his side until his reason is completely worn away by a century's worth of anger at humanity for rejecting the peace they tried to achieve, and he's finally mercy killed by a bounty hunter.

Powers/abilities: Dimos specialises in gunmanship, never seen without his pistol and primarily using that in battle. However, he also comes equipped with, and thus can assumedly use proficiently, two hunting knives. He's also canonically shown to be good at bare-fist fighting and subduing human foes. I assume there's some level of superhuman strength, given that he's created for war above all else. He also has the capability to chew food, as well as taste-test it for the presence of poison or drugs. Maintenance can also be counted as an ability, since it allows him to run small repairs on his system, and I assume that should larger injury occur, he can use parts from other Dimos models to replace them.
I completely forgot. He also exhibits the ability to construct furniture from scrap wood and cloth, building a bed on the spot with material found in a basement. What is wrong with this man.

Inventory: One pistol, 20 bullets, two bowie knives.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A large silver drop earring, in the shape of phi. It belonged to Rion, and thus immediately inspires intense loyalty and frustration in Dimos, at not being by his side.
Gemstone: Black with red pinpoints. Shaped roughly like a bullet, but wholly unpolished.

Lost memory #1: Rion's song. Or, more specifically, the content of it (a song about a hero fighting evil for his people), and the fact that it started stirring Dimos' free will. He just remembers that he likes hearing people sing, and he can't quite pinpoint why.
Lost memory #2: The concept of letting anyone help with his maintenance. He'll be suspicious about anyone who tries, but without external help, it won't be as efficient at repairing internal damage.
Altered memory: Rion's death. Dimos does not remember that he's died at all, only that he's incredibly ill and on the verge of death. This means that, instead of being furious at humanity, Dimos is motivated to help, and motivated to go home to someone he thinks is still alive.

CHARACTER

Name: Sans
Canon: Undertale
Canon point: Neutral - Family Ending
Age: 30; he's a skeleton but he does appear his age if you can tell that kind of thing in skeletons

Summary: Sans is a skeleton who loves telling jokes, hanging out with people, eating bad food, and happens to be aware that he and everyone he knows is stuck in a time loop at the whims of an anomalous child. He can't remember all of these time loops, but he knows they're happening, he has the data on them, and he's observant enough to pick out what's up in the middle of things, and this means he's generally pretty depressed and has given up on most things--but not quite entirely, because he still cares about people in spite of himself, and sometimes that even includes the anomaly. In this particular timeline, it does, as the human didn't kill anyone and just has to go around one more time to get them out of the Underground, and Sans is actually about as close to hopeful as he can get under his circumstances that maybe the human is actually going to get them out of this. Sans adores his brother, who is the coolest guy in the whole world, and mostly Sans just wants to chill and let other people do the hard work, except that's not exactly true. Sans actually can't really help but get involved in trying to keep an eye on things that go wrong, he just does it on his own time and by himself because he doesn't want to get other people involved usually. Sans isn't actually from the Underground, but he gave up trying to go back a long time ago; he's really good at giving up, but also he hates it and has a lot of issues as a result. He's secretly a scientist and wildly clever and observant. He'll lie and cheat if he thinks he has to, and in fact tends to expect to have to. Ideally for Sans, nobody will know any of this, and will just see the jokey skeleton man.

Powers/abilities:
-skeleton monster
Sans is a skeleton monster. His body is composed primarily of magic, plus some dust for matter. He looks like a four-foot tall skeleton. He doesn't need to breathe and is less impacted by (but not totally immune to) temperature changes. All monsters are more fragile than humans, but Sans is particularly fragile. As in 1HP fragile. HP applies to battle more than it does to accidents; a single blow with intent to harm him will kill him, but if he just trips or something, he'll probably survive. Even with something like tripping, though, he's still extremely fragile, just not "immediately dies" fragile. When killed, Sans turns to dust rather than leaving a corpse. Unlike any other known monster, Sans does bleed... Something. It might be blood. We just don't know. Because Sans's whole body runs on magic, using magic drains his reserves. Sans has extremely high magic reserves, but they're far from infinite. Magic uses up his energy, and if he overuses it, he'll pass out. Combat magic drains him the most, teleportation the least--he hates fighting and uses his teleportation all the time. It's like exercise, you get better at what you use often.

-vulnerability to intent
Monsters are vulnerable to the intent of their enemies. The more someone wants to hurt or kill him, the more damage they will do to him if they successfully strike him. Of course, with Sans, any intent is enough to kill him.

-lv and exp perception
Sans is capable of seeing the amount of LV (LOVE, or Level Of ViolencE) and EXP (EXecution Points) someone has. You gain EXP by killing, and when that EXP is high enough, your LV increases. The higher your LV, the greater your capacity to hurt others and the less you are hurt by others. This would be handled with a permissions post; anyone who doesn't want Sans to perceive this about their character could just let me know and he'll see a weird blank spot instead.

-unique damage dealing
Sans deals one damage at a time... Per thirtieth of a second. Normally a monster's magical attacks grant some period of invincibility, but Sans's don't. This means he is capable of doing a massive amount of damage in a very short period of time, with the damage being added to as long as someone is touching one of his attacks.

-bone magic
Sans has the ability to summon bones that do a very small amount of damage very quickly while not knocking the person they're being used on away. This means if someone doesn't step out of the way of the bones, they're going to die a rapid death of a thousand cuts. Sans's bones ignore defense almost entirely; something that provides temporary invincibility should still work. As is monster custom, Sans tends to organize these bones into patterns. Sans's patterns require precision, careful timing, and sometimes platforming, but unless someone has completely let their guard down, it's always possible to dodge through these patterns without taking any damage. Sans is capable of also using light blue bone attacks. These do not do damage if you stand still while they go through you (automatic movement like breathing doesn't count as movement).

-blue magic
Sans utilizes blue magic--gravity manipulation. He can turn someone's soul blue and manipulate their gravity, be that lifting them up, keeping them down, or slamming them into walls, although throwing someone hard enough to slam them into something hard enough to hurt uses a significant amount of energy. He can't use this on himself.

-gaster blasters
Sans is capable of summoning large monster skulls that shoot large beams of magic. He can summon many at a time aimed as he pleases. They take a few moments to warm up before firing, providing potential time to get out of the way. Their damage works like his other attacks: one point of damage but applied very rapidly.

-karma
Sans's attacks apply KR, or KaRma. This is a poison effect that drains health over time. It stacks based on how many attacks have been taken, with the gaster blasters applying more poison at once than a bone attack. Karma's effects are based on LV; the more LV, the worse the poison. Karma is incapable of killing someone alone; it will always leave someone just on the brink of death at worst.

-teleportation
Sans is capable of teleportation, which he refers to as shortcuts. He prefers not to be watched when he takes them, because when he's observed, the whole world blacks out for a moment for whoever is watching as he changes his position. Sans has to know where he's going in order to teleport; he can't teleport into somewhere completely unaware of the layout, and having been there before is ideal. He cannot teleport through magical barriers (I'll always ask before I have Sans attempt to teleport through an NPC's barrier, magic or not). Sans's teleportation can be used to dodge attacks and swap up the attacks he's using as well, hopping from one attack pattern to another in the moments the world blacks out. Sans is capable of bringing other people and objects with him if he touches them. He is also capable of teleporting small objects short distances on their own (such as a teleporting a key onto someone else's keychain).

-non-magical
Sans can cook and sew to a competent degree, although he generally avoids doing so unless the interest or the need to help out Papyrus strikes him. He's great with jokes and knows how to play trombone, ideally for jokes. Sans is incredibly observant and great at reading people, especially when he knows what he's looking for--he can count the player dying up to twelve times just based on their expressions before he stops being able to distinguish the exact amount. Sans is masterful at dodging and much quicker on his feet than you'd expect when he puts his mind on it; he's very good at ducking and twisting around someone trying to attack him. Sans has a background in science, with a working knowledge of quantum physics (he keeps his joke books and quantum physics books in a superposition, because that's just the kind of person he is) and an interest in astronomy, though considering he lives under a mountain, that knowledge isn't nearly as developed.

Inventory: outfit he's wearing, cell phone (it had an inventory system that is now down to five slots), trombone, whoopee cushion, random small change (gold coins), Toriel's joke book (sentimental item), keys, bowl of candy (stolen from the tdm intro)

OTHER

Sentimental item: Sans will have Toriel's joke book. Toriel is Sans's closest friend outside of Papyrus, who he bonded with by telling jokes through a closed door. He likes her a lot, enough to make a promise to her about watching over any human who came through the door even though Sans both hates promises and knew, once he saw the human, that the human was an anomaly with time powers. Toriel used the book to come up with jokes to tell Sans later; he won't look in it, because that would obviously spoil any jokes he hasn't heard yet, but he's going to want to keep it safe.
Gemstone: Cyan (primary) and yellow (secondary). Resembles a star sapphire, with the majority of the stone being cyan and the star shape being yellow. Looks like it was once polished but could now use some fixing up. A perfect sphere, except for the chipping.

Lost memory #1: Sans will forget Asgore ever existed. He'll be working under the assumption that Toriel has always been queen, and because of that also won't remember that six children had been killed by Asgore and taken before the human dropped in. This gives Sans a closer attachment to the crown in general, being better friends with Toriel than he was with Asgore, but mostly it's a source of confusion over what actually took place Underground with canonmates.
Lost memory #2: Sans has forgotten how almost all of his combat magic works. He remembers he can use basic bone magic to do basic damage. He doesn't remember the gaster blasters, using blue magic to throw people hard enough to hurt them, light blue bone magic, karma poisoning, or his unique way of rapidly dealing damage. Note that he can still do all these things, as magic reacts to intent. This means that he is going to be approaching things with an even stronger predisposition toward avoiding fights. It also means that if he's cornered he is in danger of doing an unpredictable amount of damage. He could also potentially really hurt someone who didn't need to be treated with nearly that much violence. With that level of unpredictability regarding what he can do, it's going to put Sans on edge whenever he thinks it might come up.
Altered memory: Sans is originally from somewhere other than the Underground as we know of it, be that a completely different world or a slightly different instance of the Underground. Sans is going to have this altered to believing he always lived in the Underground as we know of it. This removes the earliest source of existential crisis and depression; he no longer has the memory of having given up on returning home. This means he's going to be more proactive when it comes to trying to figure out how to get home and also help him shake off a bit of his depression, though far from entirely.

CHARACTER

Name: Hiiro Amagi
Canon: Ensemble Stars!!
Canon point: Before the Cards Event
Age: 16

Summary: Hiiro grew up in an isolated and remote village as the second son of its chief. Hiiro, as the second son, grew up being told that he will be Rinne's aide, and was tutored and trained only what he needs to survive and to aide Rinne. However, one day Rinne runs away from the village and never returns. Five years later, Hiiro chases after him when their father falls ill, intending to bring him back to lead the village. Believing that 'idols' were the cause of Rinne's change in character, Hiiro swore to destroy idols by... well, becoming an idol. However, since he knew nothing about idols, he ended up on the verge of being fired before he could find Rinne, so he does his best with the rest of the newly formed 'Alkaloid' unit to fulfill their directives in order to keep their job.

Hiiro is ridiculously sheltered and naive, described as 'pure' by his peers and his brother. He has a positive outlook in life and is extremely cheerful, but the lack of friends from growing up makes him struggle with understanding personal space and social cues. He believes himself to be an idiot due to the criticism of his village, but he's surprisingly empathetic, insightful and has really good instincts. As the leader of Alkaloid, he performs his duties with confidence like a good soldier, while also learning how to enjoy being an idol.

Powers/abilities: While Hiiro doesn't have any supernatural powers, he does have some unique quirks. He's got extraordinary senses (like reading wind direction and perceiving quiet sounds no one else hears), but tends to describe it as detecting something's presence, whether it's Mayoi in the ceiling, a ghost haunting the hallways, or finding the presence of glasses in deep river water at night. He can sense blood lust and hostility, as well as whether someone is trustworthy or not.

Aside from that, Hiiro is an extremely skilled martial artist, and prior to joining the martial arts club, he's always fought with the intention to kill due to his training. He's a skilled hunter and tracker, able to use information and cues to find his target when he sets his mind to it. While he does think of himself as an idiot, Hiiro is actually really good at remembering things and uses that to ace his exams, enough to threaten top students. As an idol, he's got a confident singing voice and is a quick learner when it comes to dancing.

Sentimental item: A ratty bromide that belongs to Aira Shiratori
Gemstone: Cyan and vermilion. It's a really rough gemstone, though some parts have signs of starting to be polished.

Lost memory #1: The martial arts club. Hiiro had joined the martial arts club as his recreational activity in Yumenosaki, where he learned to control his powers because not everyone fights to kill in the world. Guess he might go overboard when he encounters a fight now until someone tells him otherwise.
Lost memory #2: Feather Touch. It was the first live where a member of Alkaloid (Aira) had been the one to design the vision of the performance. It was inspiring for Hiiro who had no desires in his life due to how he grew up, and he often references it as one of the things he's inspired by. It does affect how he perceives his work and how important it is to desire something as an idol, and might set him back some in his progress of becoming an indivual and not just his brother's aide.
Altered memory: His personal outfit. In the original timeline, his peers helped him understand that his personal outfit has to reflect him as a person and were vehemently against the original design that was pretty much a reflection of Rinne's own outfit. It was important for Hiiro's development of his 'self', especially because he likes to do a 'What would Nii-san do?' when he's unsure. In the altered memory, he keeps his original design with reservations from others. It sets back some of that individuality as Hiiro would've been convinced that the "right" thing was Rinne's style, flashy and loud.

CHARACTER

Name: Barnaby Brooks Jr.
Canon: Tiger & Bunny
Canon point: Season 2 Episode 8, during the museum arson/bombing
Age: 27

Summary: Born to roboticists Barnaby and Emily Brooks, Barnaby Brooks Jr. was orphaned at four years old when they were murdered in their own home. Heavily traumatised by this loss, Barnaby was taken under the wing of a family friend, Albert Maverick, and vowed to hunt down and get revenge on the killer. Using his NEXT superpowers, he enrolled at the Hero Academy and debuted as a superhero on Maverick's reality rescue entertainment show, HeroTV. His employers paired him up with Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, aka Wild Tiger, a veteran hero with the same power as him who was intended to be Barnaby's foil to enhance the newcomer's image. The two of them found each other insufferable at first and argued often, but over the course of their work together, Barnaby began to warm to Kotetsu's kind and heroic nature, and his willingness to support and protect Barnaby through his problems.

With Kotetsu's help, he was able to piece together the truth of his parents' murder -- that the culprit was his father figure and mentor all along, Albert Maverick, who had been liberally rewriting Barnaby's memories and manipulating him to become the ideal star to market his show. Maverick is taken into custody, and Barnaby finally catches his parents' murderer after twenty long years. With his goal achieved, yet because of the deep affection and respect he has developed for his partner, Barnaby opts to remain a hero in order to stay with Kotetsu.

Powers/abilities: When activating his NEXT ability, Hundred Power, Barnaby's abilities are boosted a hundredfold, giving him super strength, speed, jumping ability, agility, healing, hearing etc., however this has a five minute time limit before he has to wait an hour to use it again.

Even without his power, he's able to hold his own in hand-to-hand combat, preferring powerful kicks as his preferred fighting style. Although he lacks Kotetsu's endurance and is more quick and fragile, he is a tenacious combatant; in a protracted battle even where he's outmatched, he will keep getting up again until he can no longer move.

He has various other skills from his hero career, for example he's skilled at driving a motorcycle, and he is trained in disarming bombs.

Inventory: His phone, glasses, storage bangle (which contains and allows him to wear his hero suit at the press of a button), and the black undersuit he arrived wearing under his hero suit.

OTHER

Sentimental item: Kotetsu's wedding ring, from his marriage to his late wife Tomoe. As Tomoe did before him, Barnaby has great love for Kotetsu, and wants more than anything to spend the rest of his life with him as his partner, even after they retire from their hero careers. Although they're still prone to bickering, they know each other well enough to communicate without saying a thing, and will readily trust each other with their lives.
Gemstone: Pink (primary), white (secondary), resembling rose quartz in the shape of a small flower. It is highly polished and smooth, but on the underside, is scuffed and chipped.

Lost memory #1: Maverick's death. Barnaby was never able to gain closure with Lunatic killing Maverick once he was in custody; in some ways this will be exacerbated if Barnaby believes Maverick is still alive and might regain his erased memories someday, providing him with the answers he's been searching for his entire life regarding the deaths of his parents. This (as with all his missing/changed memories) will be a cause for distress for him once he discovers the inconsistences, as Maverick's manipulation of his memories over two decades is the cause of much of his personal suffering.
Lost memory #2: The pin that Kotetsu gave Barnaby in December 1978. Barnaby considers this one of his most cherished memories, as Kotetsu had been helping and supporting him at one of his lowest points. Kotetsu has a matching pin, and they both consider them to have great sentimental value. Without memories of the pin as a reminder, Barnaby would have a more negative association with the memory, the later argument the two of them had that day.
Altered memory: Barnaby's memories of his dinner date with Kotetsu constantly being postponed by hero work or other engagements is changed, so that he believes they did have a chance to go for dinner and drinks together. This change means Barnaby believes they have been able to strike a better balance in their relationship between their work and personal lives, and are closer as a result.

CHARACTER

Name: Yotsuyu goe Brutus
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV, Yotsuyu goe Brutus
Canon point: Prior to her death at Castrum Fluminis.
Age: 32

Summary: As Yotsuyu, she is spiteful and stone-hearted. She takes pleasure in committing atrocities against her fellow Domans, as she blames them in part for the pain she has endured. But endure she does; suffering abuse from her adoptive parents, her 'brother' Asahi, and the nobleman they sold her to. In the wake of Sashihai's death, when she is sold to a pleasure house, she endures yet again, doing what she must to survive; even catching the eye of the crown prince of Garlemald, Zenos yae Galvus. She has no true love for the man; he serves only as a means to her ends. In truth, she fears him, fears his anger, and dares not disobey him. Her sheer hatred for her own people serves Zenos' ends as well; it is for this reason Yotsuyu is named as the Acting Viceroy of Doma in his stead; he says her petty hatreds serve him well, as he intends to crush the entire country beneath the weight of her furious retribution. She describes for the crown prince of Doma how she would no longer be a slave to her parents, her husband, or the pleasure house--as a spy for the Empire, she would be free and receive due compensation--her exact words. Yotsuyu also describes the sadistic pleasure she felt upon seeing a beaten Doman lying in the road. "My heart...my heart skipped a beat. Lying at my feet, groaning in agony, sobbing in despair. Powerless, helpless, hopeless! A vision forever seared into my soul... There was nothing I would not do to feel that joy again. To bend this cruel, twisted world to my whims! ...Now, having borne witness to my life's work, have you aught to say to me?" Only then do the heroes realize that Yotsuyu planted explosives throughout the castle, perfectly content to take them all with her if she has to taste defeat.

However, fate has different plans. She survives, due to Gosetsu Daito, Hien's retainer, and ends up with a case of amnesia. The resulting persona, "Tsuyu", is a sweet-natured and innocent woman, childlike in nature. She does not recall that she and the samurai Gosetsu were bitter enemies, caring for him after the injuries she caused at Doma Castle leave him weak. When the villagers at Namai treat her as a vengeful ghost, she asks what she has done that has people hating and fearing her so much. Even the Doman prince, Hien Rijin, is tempted to slay her, but Gosetsu asks him to show her mercy. And perhaps she could have remained an innocent, had her 'brother' not forcefully reminded her of the things she lost. Through Asahi's manipulation, she murders their parents, decrying them for turning her into a "monster"--a clue that Yotsuyu does indeed realize the things she has done are wrong, but it is too late to be turned from her path now.

Powers/abilities: Marksmanship: it has been shown in canon that she is not too shabby with a pistol, though it was a brief glimpse.

Strength: Yotsuyu was used by her parents, being their girl-of-all-work. This meant backbreaking labor daily, caring for their rice paddies and moving stones, as well as other such things. It only ended when she was married off, but it is doubtful that it really ended then, either. She's hardly superhuman, but she is stronger than the average Hyur.

Games of chance: in canon, it is shown a few times that Yotsuyu has fondness for "casting the stalks", a type of game. Gosetsu mentions it at the fall of Doma Castle, and as Tsukuyomi, her primal self, she challenges the Warrior of Light with it. "Come, let us cast the stalks and look upon the fate of Doma. I see a future in which the sun sets on this wretched land once and for all!" Yotsuyu is something of a risk taker, in the hopes the gamble will turn out in her favor.

Espionage: After being sold as a courtesan, Yotsuyu cultivated a talent for spying, relaying information against Doma to the Garlean Empire. Often plying those she sought information from with drink, she learned to glean important information from dross, and it is likely in that time she learned to forge documents as well--or at least make flawless copies. Yotsuyu also has knowledge of lockpicking, though if the locks are technologically advanced, she'd be useless.

Clever/quick learner: despite being mostly unschooled--instruction was better given to Asahi, after all--Yotsuyu liked learning and at least attempts to maintain a certain level of mental acuity.

Administrative/people skills: Yotsuyu had to carefully maintain the country of Doma, while inflicting hell upon its people. She also had to have a delicate touch with Zenos yae Galvus, the crown prince of Garlemald. Despite her willingness to serve him and obey his commands, he sees her as expendable and cares little, willing to use her--even unto death--to fulfill his desires. (Mostly, he sees the people subdued by Garlemald as amusing prey to hunt, if he so chooses.) He flatly tells Yotsuyu that she is only valuable to him due to her petty hatreds, and so she does what she can to placate him and survive. (While she remembers him now as a kinder master, it doesn't change things she's picked up in canon.)

Eikon Summoning: Though it was due to the machinations of her brother, Yotsuyu gained the ability to summon the primal Tsukuyomi into herself. A list of powers and how they go off can be found here, though it is designed to be a raid guide. (Additionally, I'm perfectly fine with this aspect being a regain, as this is A Lot.)

Inventory: Her robe, obi, and a pair of wooden sandals. An elaborate hairpin and a weblike necklace of black silk. One pistol with eight bullets. An enameled metal mirror, a ceramic pipe and a tobacco pouch.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A belt buckle of sorts. A netsuke belonging to the samurai Gosetsu Daito, both enemy and friend.
Gemstone: Black (primary), white (secondary), much like snowflake obsidian. Yotsuyu's stone is primarily black, shaped like a crescent moon with one tip broken off. Delicate white traceries ghost over the stone to break up the black, like clouds passing over the moon at night.

Lost memory #1: That those she views as her "parents"--actually her aunt and uncle--are not her true parents. Her true parents died of a plague when she was very young, and they adopted her. This makes her less inclined to believe she deserves kindness, as her aunt and uncle were never kind to her, treating her as little more than a burden.
Lost memory #2: She does not remember Asahi's betrayal--his goading her to kill their parents. While she was amnesiac, he tried to jog her memory many times, attempting to coerce her to remember so that she would be returned to Garlemald. When it returned, Yotsuyu intended to hide in the Doman enclave and commit suicide--but her parents found her there, and she slew them instead. She will not remember that here, but believe that Asahi came upon her and applauded the attempt, so Yotsuyu did not go through with it, and that it only cemented their rivalry (which culminates with his death at Castrum Fluminis).
Altered memory: Instead of Zenos yae Galvus being a cruel and brutal master, she thinks that while he was still haughty and prideful, he did not have utter anhedonia and disregard for those who served him. So she believes she served her lord with devotion, and as such it sparked a rivalry with her brother, Asahi.

CHARACTER

Name: Papyrus
Canon: Undertale
Canon point: Neutral ending: Royal Guardener Papyrus
Age: Unspecified in canon, but he's not one of the teenagers - I usually go with low-to-mid 20s. He feels like somebody on the fifth or sixth year of undergrad, on his fifth or sixth attempted major, you know?

Summary: Papyrus is one of the backbones of Undertale, being the character with the most lines, the boss of the second region, and the first of the friends the player needs to 'date' to bring about the happier endings of the game. He's introduced as the loud, human-hunting brother of jokester Sans, giving monologues of dramatic threats in between bantering and bickering with his brother, slowing the player with the array of puzzles and traps he's built along the road... And this is largely a persona, one he drops after his boss fight - when he gives up on capturing the human as his avenue to popularity - and switches gears to one of fostering friendship.

His motivations between both these personas, his underlying motivation, is one of wanting to be important - to be memorable and to matter, rather than be forgettable or irrelevant. He usually approaches this as wanting to be Important, from that first impression of wanting to join the royal guard, to seeking other positions of influence in the underground. In most of the neutral endings, he's close to the rulership of the underground as an assistant or figurehead; in the endings where he isn't, it's because he's dead, or helping Undyne through her grief and depression, or helping exiled queen Toriel protect future humans, or because he's following Flowey's plan to prevent the final battle of king vs human. Even in the happiest ending he's quick to run ahead of the others, seeking to make the first impression on the surface humans on monsterkind's behalf, and he volunteers to be ambassador if no one else claims the position.

If Papyrus has a past inspiring this motivation, no one in the game mentions a word of it - he is a character of the present and near future, full of quirky comments and no childhood stories, quick to jump from dream to dream when the circumstances change and he sees a new way to gain the approval and standing he craves. Papyrus doesn't restrict himself to the practical or even the plausible, either - his skin care products and exercise routines are only making him more moisturized and muscular in his own mind, and his thoughtlessness in knocking on a front door for training at midnight only paid off because Undyne was impressed by his tenacity in staying there until morning for the answer. He's self-absorbed in ways where he's quick to announce his own greatness, but eager to cheer others on and willing to give special and inconveniencing help - what he thinks is best, or interesting, rather than necessarily helpful.

Powers/abilities: Skeleton #2 here with a similarly long power list:
Skeleton monster: Undertale's monsters are made mostly of magic, with very little physical matter to them. Skeletons are solid bones while alive, small piles of dust if killed - and they are very vulnerable to the intention behind attacks on them. An adult could playfully punch his shoulder painfully hard and it would only hurt, while a child with enough murdering experience could kill him with only a single whack of a feather duster. While death isn't really in the picture in Austice, the increased severity of injuries from a murderous attacker means it may come up.

Monster magic: monsters make projectiles of magic as a form of expression and a way of interacting with the world, used both for day-to-day tasks like cooking and punching holes in cards, and as their primary resort in combat. Papyrus's are mostly shaped like bones. They come in white (solid, hurt on impact) and blue (semi-solid, hurt only if the target is intentionally moving).

Precise control: Papyrus is one of the only two characters in the game who demonstrates the ability to hit hard enough to kill and stop the attack partway, leaving the human alive. (We knows this ability isn't typical, as at least one monster very specifically doesn't mean to kill the human, and will look briefly horrified if they accidentally do.) This precision is also used for showing off, spelling words with his bone attack patterns at one point.

Blue magic: used in the game to turn the skeletons' fights into platforming puzzles, it's best translated into narrative as a momentum- or gravity-manipulation kind of magic. Where Sans seems to fling the human against the walls/floor/ceiling, Papyrus seems to use it on himself, (1a) repeatedly sliding around (1b) without walking, (2) double-jumping in the air, and (3) leaping unnaturally far from a standing position. With this interpretation, we see him increase gravity for a couple minutes of combat, and change/reduce gravity for bursts of several seconds. We don't see any extended flight, and he gets tired after exerting himself for the combat.

Slow/limited healing magic: Undertale has hitpoints as the abstraction for measuring injuries from magical and physical altercations, and healing magic restores the points lost. It does not seem to help with things like poisoning, heatstroke, or illness, and can't help with lethal injuries - no monsters heal themselves or their dying friends. Papyrus doesn't seem to have the knack for quick healing in combat, but he can and will heal the human while monologuing before his fight if they arrive injured, as well as restoring them to full hp if he captures them. I'm happy to accept other limitations if they're helpful for keeping game balance!

Gaster blasters: I should say upfront, we never actually see Papyrus use these - he mentions a 'special attack' that the dog steals and prevents him from using at any point in gameplay. But in a specific set of circumstances, Papyrus brags that "had I only used my special attack, you surely would have been blasted to...," without elaborating further. Given that phrasing and not wanting to create powers out of nowhere, the simplest interpretation about what the special attack could be is a similar blaster attack to what Sans uses. The main difference that, as Papyrus's magic doesn't have the rapid papercuts approach that Sans's has, his blaster presumably does a single large burst of damage.

Teleportation, barely: There is one instance in the game where Papyrus uses the same "shortcut" ability that Sans does: during the prank of Frisk walking in the dark. The blacked out screen and sound effect are notably slower than when Sans teleports away, as though Papyrus is out of practice with the ability. I'm extrapolating that Papyrus has the potential to teleport, but doesn't use it nearly as much as his brother does, and so lacks the skill and speed Sans displays. It may not be relevant - unless Papyrus loses the memories involved in his decision not to use the power, he won't use it.

There's also some oddities, like when Papyrus mentions seeing through the phone before he hastily changes the subject, or turns to watch the human go by underground... but these may just be humorous videogame shenanigans. I include these here mainly because they're fun to be aggravated by - I don't know how to begin to turn these into powers for a dwrp game.

Beyond magical/exceptional powers, he also displays some skill with visual arts (painting, snow sculpture), carpentry and plumbing (tall sink), electrical mechanics (puzzles), taxes and bureaucratic reading (following the latest legalese re: puzzle mandates), wordplay (makes a lot of puns), and mostly functional insomnia (he admits to snoozing occasionally, but does not sleep 8 hours a day).

Inventory: Ceremonial Royal Guard armor, t-shirt and shorts underneath, cell phone (with hammerspace inventory now reduced to 5 slots), a spare decorative bone, some gold (currency)

OTHER

Sentimental item: A blue teacup in the shape of a fish. It belongs to Undyne, Papyrus's ex-boss and now-friend, and had been gifted to her by the (now-deceased) King Asgore. In Undyne Papyrus found a friend as willing to be loud and enthusiastically herself as he tries/pretends to be, someone who appreciates his company in a way few do. He values her happiness enough to scheme on her behalf, manipulating her into actions he's sure are best for her (namely, attempting friendship with the human and confessing to her crush).

Gemstone: A piece of snowflake obsidian, black and white, carved into a simple, small skull. It has a crack extending up from one eye socket, and a chunk of the other cheekbone missing from the mouth to the eye.

Lost memory #1: Papyrus will forget Flowey's existence. 'Flowey the flower' had control of the timeline before Frisk fell, and in his many time loops he got to know the rest of the monsters very well - including what buttons to push to get various reactions out of them. In the timeline that game's beginning interrupts, Flowey had secretly befriended Papyrus, giving him predictions of the future and advice on what to do about it. This friendship had been going on for weeks, if not months or longer - the specific timeframe isn't clear - but the relevant things are that some of Papyrus's hopes and fears at the game's start were tweaked by the flower's input, some of his actions in the game were based on the flower's advice, and Flowey had been the first seemingly effortless friend Papyrus ever made. Without that, his tendencies towards overconfidence and insecurity will both be exaggerated - he'll know he's succeeded at making friends and other dreams, but he won't be able to replicate the ease he had with some of it, and the apparent increased difficult will feel like he's reverting to old habits.

Lost memory #2: Some of the details about the magic barrier. He'll remember that the barrier traps monsters inside, that human souls are more powerful than monster souls, and that it would take the power of about seven human souls to destroy the barrier. He won't remember that it takes the power of a human soul and a monster soul to exit the barrier, or that passage is based solely on soul power. Without those details, he'll think that the human could have left without incident just by asking Asgore to let them pass. And with his altered memory, he'll be under the impression that he and Sans had the ability to go through at any time, and simply weren't using it for some reason - which will leave him more frustrated with Sans's tendencies towards laziness.

Altered memory: Papyrus's childhood / background. Instead of growing up wherever and however he did in canon - never specified - he's now solidly under the impression that he's a reanimated human skeleton. It's uncommon knowledge in Undertale that ghosts are capable of not just briefly possessing objects, but of becoming them - binding their souls to the objects and bringing them to life, by experiencing strong enough emotions to fill the bodies with their magic. Papyrus won't believe that he's outright an ex-ghost, but he will believe that something similar happened - that someone, maybe the king or the previous royal scientist, used a lot of spiritual power to bring two skeletons to life. The memories of his creation and immediate aftermath will be muddled, being the equivalent to childhood's learning process. He'll remember that Sans is older than him and was already used to being a person, that Papyrus was disoriented and distressed by Hotland's steam vents, and that he honed his blue magic to feel more confident navigating the area. His clearest memories are primarily based when the skeletons moved to Snowdin, including the events actually mentioned / portrayed in the game. This altered background will give Papyrus a stronger sense of kinship with the humans in the game, a fun potential hook with the necromancers and anyone horrified by necromancy, and mutual bewilderment with his brother's conflicting memories.

CHARACTER

Name: Jiro Azuma
Canon: Black Torch
Canon point: Ch. 18 - when entering the torii gateway to the mononoke realm to rescue Rago
Age: 17

Summary:
Jiro comes from a line of shinobi who belonged to the Oniwaban, an organization employed by the shogunate during the Edo period, and his ancestors were tasked specifically with fighting mononoke who were at war with the human population. Over the years, the mononoke retreated from the human world for the most part. As a result, a government spy organization (Public Bureau of Espionage) grew from the Oniwaban, changing roles during the Meiji Restoration, and became a shadow organization that publicly doesn't exist, dealing primarily with intelligence gathering, information manipulation, and observation and elimination of mononoke. After saving an injured cat in the woods by his house, who turned out to be a mononoke, Jiro dies trying to save said cat only to be possessed by him as a last ditch effort to save him. Jiro is then kidnapped by the Bureau and forced to work with them or face imprisonment or 'erasure' for becoming the vessel of a powerful demon on accident, while they all try to figure out a successful exorcism and also stop a cannibal mononoke from taking over the human world.

Quite rude and uncouth in general, Jiro flings casual insults at both those he likes and dislikes; though the former is often more in a good-natured bantering way, like the continual snark he and his grandfather engage in, or his relationship with his mononoke half, Rago, which aligns along the same path of them both making disparaging remarks at each other though a strong bond of friendship has formed between them. His slights and taunts often present as childish and reactionary incivility, and combined with his unnecessary bitching and derisive commentary, he is viewed as immature and impertinent and isn't particularly liked by his teammates initially, even without his half-demon status. Underneath that exterior, Jiro is very compassionate and kind, especially to animals, whom he considers on the same level as humans, often picking fights with those who are cruel to them or treat them as lesser beings, and he will go so far as to put his own life in danger to save an animal in need: climbing a high tree as a kid to save a cat and falling himself, or making himself a target of gang members who were shooting bottle rockets at alleycats. His consideration for others over himself makes him rather reckless and impulsive, going off the simplistic idea that "you don't need a reason to help people", which results in a tendency to charge into things and dangerous situations before taking stock of potential consequences- one of those being his unintended possession by a mononoke. Whether classified as strong-willed, stubborn, or resolute, he is dogged in his pursuit of any goals he makes, usually by way of heading straight into a fight as soon as he's made the decision that something needs to be done.

Powers/abilities: (any amount of nerfing is fine with me!)

Ancestral Abilities - Jiro's shinobi family has ancestral abilities bestowed upon them by a mononoke centuries ago; they have some sort of magical origin and aren't spontaneous or from skill cultivation for the most part. Descendants have all displayed these to varying degrees, but it's noted that Jiro is particularly gifted in both (1) athleticism and physical prowess resulting in general increased strength, agility, etc. and (2) animal communication. Shown to be able to converse with dogs, cats, birds, snakes, raccoons, etc. This is likely universal among all animals.

Mononoke Possession Shenanigans - Jiro is possessed by a cat demon (Rago), whose power is considered 'infinite' because it doesn't decrease or need to be replenished. He's one of the most powerful mononoke in existence, though specifics aren't noted, and capable of a great deal of destruction with minimal effort. When used through Jiro, the power generally takes the form of shadowy smoke coming from his body and gradually giving him cat-like physical attributes (ears, tail, claws, etc). Rago controls the power when he and Jiro are merged together, but when separated, Jiro can't control it well by himself. He has use of it for approximately fifteen minutes before he'll either: (1) start losing his mind and becoming a demon beast-cat thing, or (2) succumb to organ failure and death. (currently Rago is MIA and organ failure caveat applies)

Inventory:
Just clothing, but it's a tactical jumpsuit with enhancements and properties that may not function in the game world. Those being:
→ general resistance to heat, pressure, knives/blades, and bullets
→ insulated and waterproof
→ interwoven artificial muscle fibres to improve combat ability
→ an electronic wrist device built into the gloves activates a setting called Quantum Camouflage that has two modes:
A. Disguise Mode: tactical gear is replaced by an optical illusion of regular clothes to blend in
B. Stealth Mode: invisibility cloaking of himself and his shadow

OTHER

Sentimental item: His grandfather's bandana. Jiro's mother died giving birth to him, and his maternal grandfather is the one who raised him. Despite their contentious relationship, he's the person Jiro loves and respects more than anyone else and the only person he'd ever considered his family.
Gemstone: Predominantly a warm brown with a few gold stripes like tiger's eye, jagged edges with a polished center, a circular base with a couple of triangular peaks like cat ears.

Lost memory #1: Kouga mentioning his father offhandedly during a fight. Until that point, Jiro thought his father was dead and has never questioned it, and that sparks contemplation about where he came from and why it was potentially hidden from him, a mystery he'll no longer be preoccupied by or annoyed about. It will take his anger levels at people attempting to manage his life down a bit. Maybe he won't punch as many security guards.
Lost memory #2: Meeting Ibuki and Monjurmaru in the forest. Ibuki is an ogre who helped Jiro gain what little control he has over Rago's powers. Without the knowledge and practice he gained from her, Jiro will be more concerned with losing control and be wary about using any powers since the last time he did, he nearly killed several people.
Altered memory: That he joined the Bureau of his own free will instead of threats and manhandling. He'll be more inclined to work with others and not be immediately suspect and pissed off about anyone telling him what to do.

CHARACTER

Name: Rinne Amagi
Canon: Ensemble Stars!!
Canon point: Chapter 155, before he disowns Hiiro
Age: 21

Summary:

Amagi Rinne is the kind and intelligent son of a village chief who, bored of a life without freedom and unable to withstand the incredible pressure placed upon him, runs away from home to follow his dream of becoming an idol. But once his dreams are crushed after he tries becoming an idol the proper way, he realizes that he won't achieve his goal by following convention, so he reinvents himself into the Amagi Rinne we know today — big, bold, and irreverent leader of the troublemaker idol unit Crazy:B, with the charisma and talent to show for it.

Rinne does his best to embody gambling, seeing it as a form of freedom he never had in the village. He's impulsive and a fast-talker, quick to come up with excuses on the fly just to get his way; he doesn't like being denied anything, especially his way of life. He hates following the rules, but he has his own code: whenever he receives a favor, he makes sure to repay it. Because of how he is treated in the village as a monarch and in the city as worse than trash, he feels like an outsider wherever he goes, longing to find a place where he can belong and seeking acceptance for who he truly is.

He acts annoying, cruel and thick-skinned because of his pride, knowing that his kindness won't get him anywhere, as he thinks that showing his true feelings are a sign of weakness. Possessing a strong desire to be the perfect brother Hiiro can be proud of, and racked with guilt for abandoning Hiiro in a village that doesn't care for him, Rinne's self-esteem is actually dismal, so he tends to engage in self-destructive behaviors. Although Rinne doesn't show it, he has a big heart — he values freedom above all else and wants to inspire that in others as well, but he's willing to sacrifice anything for the people he considers his family.

Powers/abilities: Due to his natural genius and upbringing as his father's successor, Rinne is intelligent. He has a knack for teaching due to Hiiro's curiosity (but this doesn't mean any of his lessons enter Niki's head). He is the mastermind behind all of Crazy:B's plans to win whatever insane idol tournament they have to win next, and he uses his smarts to minimize his losses for every "gamble" he makes. He also likes referencing literature, history and philosophy while spouting anti-capitalist rhetoric a lot. He just pretends he's stupid to fuck with people.

He is also proficient in an obscure school of martial arts passed down his family for generations. He's better at it than Hiiro, and he's good enough to hide his presence and dodge every single one of Hiiro's attacks. Please don't ask me what Enstars is about.

Since becoming an idol, Rinne has gotten a lot of skills under his belt aside from singing, such as dancing, public speaking, modeling, and acting. He can also read music and play the guitar and the piano.

Inventory: His smartphone and a lapel microphone. He'll be wearing his idol costume — he was kind of on the run!

OTHER

Sentimental item: The chopsticks Niki used to feed him the first time they met. If Niki didn't save him from starvation that day, Rinne probably wouldn't have survived on the streets of Tokyo for long.
Gemstone: red like maple leaves and yellow like honey!

Lost memory #1: His dream of becoming an idol.
Lost memory #2: His personal life with Niki, from the day Niki picked him off the street, fed him, and let him stay at his apartment. Niki's kindness is the reason Rinne was able to survive his trip to the city after running away from his village, and the reason he was able to get a foot in the door in the idol industry. In Austice, he'll only remember Niki as a co-worker he gets along with and teases a lot. He doesn't have a best friend! Hahaha...
Altered memory: In canon, their mother passed away before Hiiro could remember her. In Austice, Rinne will think their mother is still alive. Instead of Rinne, it will have been their mother who took care of Hiiro when everyone else was strict on him and neglected him. With this knowledge, it'll be heavier on Rinne's conscience to disown Hiiro in ES and return to their village. He might also be a little jealous of Hiiro too, since he'll think that Hiiro had all of their mother's affection.

CHARACTER

Name: V
Canon: Cyberpunk 2077
Canon point: While in Mikoshi before any decision is made
Age: 28

Summary: cw: sex trafficking mention, underage drinking
V is a tired, depressed mercenary who has PTSD and so much trauma. He has a lot of contradictory traits to him that developed in response to trauma and, as such, can act erratically or irrationally. He prefers to keep people at arm's length and keep relationships shallow, though he will keep a very personable front (as long as the other person isn't being an ass) and do his best to learn all he can about the other so he can blackmail them later (if necessary).

V's trauma comes from his childhood of growing up in the streets: he was born to a homeless single mother who had to be gone long hours working to have enough money to feed him, and he started stealing at 5 or so to ensure they had enough food for mom to eat. Mom died when he was ten, then a father-figure he had died when he was 14. From there he started drinking and working to survive. V has an extreme fear of abandonment because of this, which is part of why he keeps people at arm's length and works so hard not to let people close to him. This was further reinforced - and poisoned into a genuine belief that people don't care for him - when he was 19 and his first lover backstabbed him with trying to sell him into a sex trafficking ring.

After that betrayal he mostly just worked - he worked his ass off to get smart and learn all he had, really throwing his everything into the idea that if he worked hard enough he could have enough money to buy enough security he could finally feel safe. Somehow, at the end of it all, with all of the walls that V had built, the smallest piece of him that had hope and love and loyalty survived and ultimately if someone bothers to bear with him and climb all his walls they will find the sweetest, kindest, most loving, and loyal man they could possibly hope to meet.

Powers/abilities: Cyberware
The super duper tl;dr - he has a lot of cyberware that improves his reaction time by a considerable amount, he heals 2x as fast as a normal person, his eyes can scan and tell him information about what's around him (living being, explosive item, probably a good place to hide a body, item on a computer network) as well as zoom in some so he can see things from further away. Also his arms turn into swords and he can double jump (idk how that works physically but that's what it is in game so okay). Last thing I promise he has a phone implanted in his head

In addition, he's incredibly good with computers and networks. Hacking - software, hardware, network infrastructure - is genuinely his specialty and what he is good at. Outside of computers he is an excellent shot and driver.

Quickhacks are basically op wizard spells in the game and (esp given the fact I built him as a netrunner intentionally) I typically consider them worthless in game environment because they are specifically meant to damage people with cyberware and cybersystems like in Cyberpunk 2077 - I generally assume it doesn't translate.

Inventory: Clothes on his back (favorite outfit + Johnny's jacket), Archangel (Kerry's Gun), Malorian 3516 (Johnny's gun), gravity knife, the necklace made from the bullet that was shoved into his head by Dex

OTHER

Sentimental item: A ring on a chain, which I've always assumed to be Kerry's wedding ring from his failed marriage. In the ending where you go back to be with Kerry the ring is gone, a symbol that Kerry finally moved on from his failed marriage. When you meet Kerry in game he is clearly in the throes of depression and there's a lot of implication that he was teetering on the edge of suicide and by giving V his gun it proves that he has found hope again, and since V already has the gun on arrival that can't really be his sentimental item, can it? But Kerry finally letting go of his previous marriage certainly meant a lot to him because it helped to show him that Kerry wasn't going anywhere.
Gemstone: hot pink and navy blue (like him hair :>)

Lost memory #1: his first lover that backstabbed him :) - This will make him a lot more willing to form relationships with others. He won't be completely cured of his fear of abandonment, especially considering how many people he's still lost, but he won't immediately assume people are there to just use him either.
Lost memory #2: he doesn't remember his romantic relationship with Kerry - Takes much of the sting out of ending up here, especially considering the altered memory. It also reinforces the idea that he just works his ass off forever.
Altered memory: In Mikoshi Alt Cunningham tells V that she had forgotten that human bodies exist and no matter what V does he will die - if he goes back to the body he will degrade until he's dead, or he could go with Alt and be assimilated into some super AI. What is changing is that he will believe that Alt told him that if he goes back to the body he will be 100% okay and happy and live a very long life. When V is told that he will die regardless of what he chooses that breaks something in him and he loses hope and finally gives up, so changing his memory will make him annoyed? But he will not be a completely broken man.

PLAYER

Name: Melya
Preferred pronoun(s): She/Her

CHARACTER

Name: Niki Shiina
Canon: Ensemble Stars!!
Canon point: Chapter 122: "Stains", at the beginning of Crazy:B's Idol Royale Dream Festival
Age: 18

Summary: Niki is a part of the notorious idol unit Crazy:B, the initial antagonists of Ensemble Stars!!. Like ALKALOID, the members of Crazy:B were approached with an ultimatum—become successful idols or be fired from Ensemble Square... except their units were formed with basically no input from their members and there's blackmail involved. Unlike ALKALOID, their existence is far more chaotic—they show up wherever they want, do whatever they want, and aren't afraid to make enemies of everyone—because they have so much more to lose if they fail. This gives them the potential to push the idol industry toward the change it so desperately needs—they're often referred to as weapons.

Despite being forced to play the role of villains, however, they're actually pretty decent guys and Niki is no exception. Unlike everyone around him, he doesn't actually have much of an interest in being an idol (he'd much rather be a chef), but he wants to help Rinne achieve his dream, so he got dragged into being one anyway. Niki himself is a kind, carefree person, but he's awkward and completely lacking in self-esteem. He doesn't have any confidence in himself outside of his cooking, and his greatest fear is being a burden to others in literally any way. At the same time, though, he's a bright, optimistic, and selfless person who'd do anything to help people, and entirely without judgement. Due to the way he grew up, Niki is incredibly simple—his main motivation is food, and he's okay with having the absolute bare minimum—but this is also his greatest strength, because it means he appreciates things as they are, and he's able to live his life the way he wants to.

Powers/abilities: Niki is a normal person, so he doesn't have any extraordinary abilities. The most interesting things about him are the facts that he can recreate the flavor of anything he's tasted even just once (he just really loves food), his stomach is a bottomless pit (his body doesn't absorb nutrients very well), and he becomes completely delusional if he doesn't eat. (This last one is actually a problem. When it gets really bad, he's even been known to see people as food. He wouldn't actually eat anybody, but he might be tempted to have a little taste. Sorry he's like this.) tl;dr his body hates him, it's the main source of many of his complaints and it causes problems sometimes.

Aside from the fact that Niki is a weirdo, the other notable thing is that Niki is a lot more talented than he gives himself credit for. He doesn't think he's any good at anything besides cooking, but he's a completely different person when he's on stage—despite his whining, he's actually pretty good at the whole idol thing. This is mostly worth mentioning because it would likely extend to other things, too. Rinne says Niki is good at anything he sets his mind to—obviously not inhumanly so, but at least enough to be considered skilled. He just has no confidence and hates being hungry, so he doesn't really do anything. Oops.

Inventory: His phone and... some snacks... He'll probably eat through them in like, a day or two, though, so I don't think it's worth quantifying/specifying them, but if that's a problem, let me know, lol.

OTHER

Sentimental item: Rinne's silver necklace. Rinne is easily the most important person in his life. He's his first real friend (and only friend, for a long time), and meeting him changed literally everything for him. While Niki often complains that meeting Rinne is the worst thing that ever happened to him, he realizes that he really enjoys the chaos that he brought into his life and he's never been happier than he is right now. He would do literally anything for Rinne—he became an idol for him despite his family's awkward feelings about idols, and was even willing to drop everything and return to Rinne's hometown with him. Literally the only thing more important to Niki than food is Rinne.
Gemstone: dark blue / yellow

Lost memory #1: His father's scandal. This is a pretty key moment in his life, as it's the basis for most of his fears and insecurities. Although he acknowledges that this happened a long time ago and probably isn't relevant anymore, he still worries about being associated with his father, and he still fears inconveniencing people the way his father did to him. Unfortunately, these things are so deeply-ingrained in him at this point that forgetting why he feels the way he does probably won't change anything. He'll just remember that his childhood wasn't great, but he won't be able to pinpoint the reason for it.
Lost memory #2: Crazy:B hanging out at Cafe Cinnamon. Rather than having proper meetings and practices, they tend to congregate at Cinnamon and play whatever game Rinne feels like playing (whether they want to or not), among other things. Together, they are all very loud and embarrassing. It's chaotic and Niki fears losing his job everyday. Niki actually doesn't think of Kohaku and HiMERU as friends yet (this doesn't happen until an event later), but this will just further emphasize the idea that he doesn't know them very well and isn't close with them. It wouldn't change how he treats them, because he's still kind to everyone he meets, he's just even further from the idea that they're friends than he was before.
Altered memory: Niki's main struggle with being an idol is that he feels like he can't be both an idol and a chef at the same time, so he leans toward the one he already knows, which is being a chef. In Austice, Niki will remember it the other way—he likes cooking, but he isn't super interested in it professionally. An idol is what he's really always wanted to be. This probably won't change a whole lot, since... ultimately, he still gets hungry very easily and that's a bigger problem for him than anything, so he's still going to complain. But he'll probably think his issue with his parents had to do with wanting to be an idol, and he'll probably lean a little more into idol things than he usually would.

CHARACTER

Name: Kuruto Ryuki
Canon: AI: The Somnium Files, Nirvana Inative.
Canon point: Right after Amame Doi's sommnium.
Age: 29, but believes himself to be 23.

Summary: Kuruto Ryuki is a sci fi supercop with ~problems~. The newest dream diving mind reading recruit at the Tokyo’s metropolitan police’s “Advanced Brain Squad” (ABIS). Ryuki has high aspirations to be a hero of justice and go after the worst kind of criminals. He’s mild mannered and polite, with a gentle personality and an eccentric worldview. Ryuki has few friends, but is generally well liked. He is partnered with Tama, a sexy sadomasochist artificial intelligence who lives in his eyeball…they get along great. Kind of married to her ngl.

—[Below is the spoilers summary… Please play AITSF!] —

He’s also been in a near state of mental collapse since his twin brother died when he was 16, spurring an undisclosed mental breakdown that manifested itself in strange behavioral tics and occasional delusional episodes. Ryuki’s issues only worsened when at 23, he was assigned a case that began to erode his sense of reality. He began suffering dissociative episodes that he refused to acknowledge, and pushed himself to the brink. It ended with him betraying his superior officer to save Tama.

At 29, the reopening of the Half Body serial killings caused Ryuki to have another mental breakdown, this time kickstarting a delusional belief he’s still 23 and investigating the case for the first time.

Powers/abilities

-Gun Fu: As stupid as it sounds. Ryuki can do cool parkour gun flips and has a variety of insanely annoying QTE’s in game where he shows them off.

Cybernetic eye: With Tama in his right eye, Ryuki has access to a variety of cool sci fi abilities I don’t think it makes sense for him to have without her (access to the internet, the ability to make calls or up his reaction speed, etc). Still I think his eye has some limited functionality without an ai helping, mainly an X-ray, zoom, and heat sensing function.

He also has the ability to Wink Psync, where he can shoot a bunch of nanomachines(?) to put someone to sleep (?) and quickly psync into their dream (read their mind) to see whats happening…but I don’t think he could access that function without Tama, so don’t worry about it.

Inventory:

-Cybernetic eye (its in his eye)
-Exciting VOLtaic VERsatile Gun (Evolver): A standard issue ABIS pistol that can fire a variety of rounds. link!
-ABIS police badge.

OTHER

Sentimental item: His brothers wristwatch.
Gemstone: One ruby, and one gold topaz.

Lost memory #1: Ryuki will forget he had a panic attack and shot a civilian at 23 (the guy lived, thank god). This is a pretty unpleasant memory, so actually his self opinion and confidence will be slightly higher without it.
Lost memory #2: Ryuki will forget he told Tama why he betrayed his mentor Date, something that will make him feel more alone in his betrayal, and also serve to further the delusion brought about by the altered memory.
Altered memory: Tearers identity - Ryuki will have the mistaken belief that the culprit of the half body serial killings was his long dead brother. It’s an impossibility he would have difficulty accepting, but this kind of memory would cause a pretty serious mental strain, enough for him to maintain his “I’m 23 and the case hasn’t been solved and everything is fine!!” mentality beyond just his initial breakdown.

CHARACTER

Name: Tenn Kujo
Canon: IDOLiSH7
Canon point: Post-Third Beat, Part 1 of the anime
Age: 18

Summary: Some spoilers for I7 below!

Tenn Kujo, formely known as Tenn Nanase, was born alongside his twin brother, Riku. The two of them grew up in a relatively happy household and had a strong relationship. Their parents owned a club that would eventually start having financial issues; another big issue in the family was Riku's health condition. Riku had respiratory problems that would often put him in the hospital. While all of this was happening, a man named Takamasa Kujou had set his sights on Tenn in his efforts to search for a new legendary idol, and promised to help Tenn's family financially if Tenn would leave with him to undergo idol training. Thus, after being adopted by Kujou and leaving his family, Tenn would later debut in a group under Yaotome Productions named TRIGGER alongside his bandmates, Gaku Yaotome and Ryuunosuke Tsunashi.

Tenn is a powerful idol, the center of TRIGGER, and treats his fans extremely well. He doesn't mind putting on a facade for his fans, or prioritizing them over his well-being if it means keeping them happy. On the flip side, he can be quite harsh behind the scenes and isn't afraid to point out the shortcomings of those he works with. Overall, Tenn's duality has roots in good intentions that sometimes backfire on him, and he's slowly but surely learning to open up and rely on others when he's struggling.

Powers/abilities: Tenn is just a normal boy without any supernatural powers. He's exceptional in performance (singing, dancing, acting), often considered a prodigy – Kujou regards him as someone that can surpass the legendary idol named Zero. Tenn's built an entire fanbase for himself, like a lot of idols tend to do. At his current canon point however, TRIGGER is no longer one of the top idol groups, but Tenn is stubborn and hardworking and doesn't like to give up. (There was also an episode in which Tenn pushed open an elevator with his bare hands, but that was most likely just anime logic.)

Inventory: His cellphone, some casual clothing, and a pair of black-framed glasses.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A pair of red-framed glasses, which look similar to his own. These belong to Riku, and given the nature of their relationship, they'll bring about some complicated feelings.
Gemstone: Pink (primary) and black. The gemstone is shaped like an alto clef, chipped here and there and rough around the edges.

Lost memory #1: Being adopted by Kujou. This is a big one because being Kujou's child shaped a lot of who Tenn is today. He hides a lot (especially regarding Kujou) from TRIGGER, and he has to suppress a lot of his feelings about Riku for the sake of keeping Riku safe. His relationship with his brother is also extremely turbulent because of this. Without Kujou in his life, Tenn will be under the impression that he and Riku / TRIGGER are close as ever, and he'll have more freedom in pursuing what he wants.
Lost memory #2: The song NATSU☆Shiyouze!, which was originally composed for IDOLiSH7, was stolen in canon and became TRIGGER's song for a while – that is, until TRIGGER found out that the song wasn't truly theirs. It caused both sides to have complicated feelings about the song itself, even if the incident ultimately brought them closer together. Losing this memory won't necessarily be a drastic change for Tenn, but he won't remember the turmoil that he and TRIGGER went through while they were trying to work through their feelings about it together. (Also, he and Riku were together on stage when they did a group performance of this song! Ouch.)
Altered memory: In Austice, Tenn will believe that he's the leader of TRIGGER (which is currently Gaku's role), not the center. The main difference here is that being the center means Tenn is more of the "face" of TRIGGER, rather than the one that helps them stick together behind the scenes. With this change, Tenn will generally be quicker to act in the (general) group's best interests and be more well-versed in handling conflict. He's not horrible at it, but he can be combative with certain individuals.

CHARACTER

Name: Kotetsu T. Kaburagi
Canon: Tiger and Bunny
Canon point: Season 2, beginning of episode 10
Age: 38

Summary: In the world of Tiger and Bunny, individuals with powers called NEXTs appeared 45 years ago, bringing with it a great deal of societal upheaval and ostracization of those that had gained unusual abilities. To bring a degree of social acceptance to NEXTs, Hero TV was developed–a reality show involving superheroes saving civilians and capturing criminals on live television. Over time, only the most successful corporations remained able to sponsor superheroes, and old-fashioned hero Kotetsu ("Wild Tiger") found himself gradually being left behind by a cultural zeitgeist that seemed to value ratings and flair over helping people, as when he's told in the pilot episode to hold off on activating his powers for a commercial break.

Kotetsu is hired to become the partner and foil of rising star Barnaby Brooks Jr, the golden boy of Apollon media, and the series follows the two of them as their partnership unfolds, from their early days of nonstop squabbling and difficulty finding common ground, to the ups and downs of coming to trust and rely upon each other to the point where, as Barnaby says in season 2, they no longer truly need words to know what each other is thinking. Together, they work to uncover the mystery of Barnaby's parents' murder, and during that process Kotetsu finds himself losing the NEXT powers on which Kotetsu has based his entire career and a significant part of his identity. He spends a period of turmoil struggling with how to prioritize his various competing obligations and personal values, but at the end of things with Barnaby's parents' killer exposed and having taken some time away to spend with his family, he returns to the Hero scene, determined to see his dreams through to the very end – even if there's occasional bumps along the road. It is with this determination reaffirmed after the challenges of his declining powers and his marketability as a Hero are tested in the Rising that he and Barnaby return in Season 2, with their partnership stronger than ever.

Powers/abilities: Kotetsu is a NEXT, one of a group of powered individuals that began appearing about 45 years ago in Sternbild City and has continued into the present. His ability is known as the “Hundred Power,” so named because it increases every physical factor hundredfold. The most obvious uses of this ability are for his strength and speed, but on two occasions, he’s used it for specialized purposes, such as for an improvised healing factor in S1E13 and to increase the sensitivity of his hearing in S1E17. The downside is that he can only use this power for five minutes, and then he needs to wait an hour before he can use it again.

Starting in S1E15, Kotetsu begins losing his powers, and as of his canonpoint, he is down to one minute, though it appears to be stable at this level.

He also has a mechanical suit which serves primarily as a means of protection, especially when Kotetsu’s powers are not activated or have run out. The suit is fireproof and can expand greatly without being compromised, as seen in tests performed by the mechanic who created it, Saito. The right arm of the suit also contains a larger-scale version of the grapple-watch he wore in season 1, and the wires were shown to be strong enough not to be able to be cut by even a power-saw. The suit also has a “Good Luck Mode” which makes the arm bigger, but otherwise...has no function other than “looking cool.” The suit contains no weapons of any kind. As of season 2, the suit (including the bodysuit underneath) can be activated by sliding a green sphere on the bracelet he wears on his wrist.

Kotetsu has had to work hard to keep up with the other heroes despite his declining powers, so he has pretty excellent hand-to-hand combat skill and he's athletic enough for parkour and to swing around on his wires while being actively shot at with fire and not take a hit.

Inventory: His phone, storage bangle which lets him activate his hero suit, his wallet with pictures of his daughter and late wife.

OTHER

Sentimental item: The little robot toy that Barnaby's parents gave him for his birthday before they died. Barnaby has held onto this item for more than twenty years because of his deep love for his parents and dedication to solving their murder. Learning the story behind this item is one of the first times Barnaby was ever vulnerable with Kotetsu.

Gemstone: Jade with bands of amber like a modified tiger's eye gem. There's a network of thin spiderweb cracks all through the stone

Lost memory #1: Being temporarily replaced by Golden Ryan during the Rising. He will remember being fired from Apollon Media and Barnaby being reinstated into the First League without him, but not that another Hero had worked with Barnaby for a time. This will fortify his and Barnaby's partnership to some extent; while he will still have had doubts about whether Barnaby would achieve more with a different partner, they will not have been separated in the same way, nor would he be aware of Ryan having stepped back to give them the opportunity to reunite as partners.

Lost memory #2: Kriem's suicide. In Season 1, Kotetsu finds out that Jake Martinez could not have possibly killed Barnaby's parents, because he had been kidnapping Kriem at the time. She considered him her savior from the ostracization and cruelty she experienced as a NEXT, with even her own parents having rejected her. That she chose to die rather than live in a world without Jake, a violent criminal who had no issues with harming and killing innocent people for his goals, is something that haunts Kotetsu to some extent, as someone who was also bullied for his NEXT abilities but inspired by Legend to use them to save people instead. Although these conflicted feelings will not be erased entirely by forgetting about her suicide, he won't have the guilt about having been present and unable to save her.

Altered memory: Throughout the first cour of season 2, Kotetsu and Barnaby keep trying to have a dinner date, but are consistently interrupted by Hero work or personal situations. Kotetsu is especially troubled about this when Barnaby lands in a coma with no guarantee of when or if he'll wake up. He'll have various anxieties about this in Austice, but it will give him some measure of peace to think he and Barnaby did at least get to have a nice night of dinner and drinks together.

CHARACTER

Name: Haruka Isumi
Canon: Idolish7
Canon point: Post Third Beat, Part 1
Age: 17

Summary: As a young boy, Haruka was scouted by a man named Takamasa Kujou who claimed he saw Haruka had great potential to be an idol. With reassurance he would adopt the parentless boy, he took him over sees and began to train him to become the perfect idol - but after the success of Kujou’s actual adopted son Tenn and Haruka’s mindset, he declared him defective and a failure and sent Haruka back to Japan. The hurt, bitterness and anger Haruka felt over this meant he was susceptible enough to join Ryou Tsukomu on his crusade to expose the idol industry and ruin the public’s perception of idols, joining Tsukomu Production’s first idol group ZOOL. Haruka struggles to connect with people and express himself sincerely, without getting flustered or angry, but at the same time he’s incredibly blunt and will say things without explaining himself. (Things like declaring he hates Idolish7, a rival group, to his two schoolmates from that group.) Words are hard, especially when you’re expecting everyone will just use you and abandon you when you’re no longer useful. He’s easily excitable and incredibly emotional even if he tries to be collected and responsible - because he doesn’t want to be a burden. Everything that’s motivated him, from going overseas with Kujou to picking the pieces of his life back up when he was back in Japan, were to try to find a way to not wear other people down. He’s just an emotional kid who doesn’t know how to be who he wants to be, lashing out because of how he’s been hurt. Also, sometimes a boy is just tsundere.

Powers/abilities: He’s a total mundane normie with no supernatural abilities to speak of, however, he is exceptionally talented and skilled in singing and performing on stage, as well as dancing and a fair ability to act. Idol life, you know.

Inventory: His stage costume, a water bottle, and his cellphone.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A keychain shaped like a clover, originally belonging to Aya Kujou (formerly Yotsuba). Aya was another child taken in by Takamasa Kujou, and the two were very close. Haruka is fond of her, even if he worries about her still being under Kujou’s thumb more completely than him and Tenn. She was one of the few friends he ever sort of had, even if she didn’t understand what Haruka was going through compared to herself and Tenn.
Gemstone: Black, with the secondary color being a minty color similar to his hair that appears as small speckles, but also in a star pattern similar to star sapphires/rubies/etc.

Lost memory #1: Memories of Takamasa Kujou, who is the source of most of Haruka’s problems. Without memories of Kujou, Haruka would no longer hold animosity towards Tenn Kujou - or have any reason to despite the idol industry so much or to see ZOOL’s competition against TRIGGER as anything but business and vying for popularity in the market. Without memories of Kujou calling him defective, Haruka would be more confident at least in his abilities as an idol. He would be less afraid of how his fans perceive him, and also have less hang ups allowing people to get close to him - particularly fatherly sorts.
Lost memory #2: Returning to Japan only to discover his grandmother was in the hospital and never told him because she didn’t want him to worry. Again, this would lend to a more positive Haruka, as he wouldn’t be carrying the guilt over that conversation and the remorse for not being able to be with his only family while she was doing so incredibly poorly - basically, let him not be quite so sad and guilty and angry, because as far as he knows everything was fine and there was nothing odd about his return to Japan, and his grandmother has always been as honest as possible with him.
Altered memory: His first meeting with Ryou Tsukomu - now Ryou is the one who proposed being Haruka’s new guardian, and he would take full responsibility for the boy and make any decisions a guardian would have to make while he’s still a minor. With Ryou as his “father”, Haruka would feel more like he owes it to Ryou to succeed beyond just being bitter and lashing out, and more desperate to please the man. He wants to ease the burden that caring for someone has been for his grandmother, and even if it’s happening later in his life he’ll take it. However, due to the kind of person Ryou is, namely how manipulative and sadistic he is, this means that the willingness to please and the defensiveness and naivety will be a bit higher.

CHARACTER

Name: Kanata Shinkai
Canon: Ensemble Stars!!
Canon point: after the SS Finals
Age: 19

Summary: Kanata is a former god - or rather, he was once worshipped as a god by a cult that had a lot of influence over the area the main story of Ensemble Stars takes place in. He didn't know any better himself, taking his own godhood for granted and granting "wishes" for others that were actually carried out and granted by members of his cult. He was enrolled in Yumemosaki Academy for idol training, but one can assume it was also to allow his cult to influence the other idols there. At the same time, the academy was suffering from its own popularity and the idols in training were using the name to get ahead without actually putting in the necessary effort, giving the school a bad name and causing it to fall out of favor in the industry. To rectify this, the head of the student council at the time put together a group of five "Eccentrics", talented but odd members of the student body, and included Kanata among them. These Eccentrics were then cast as the villains so that the students would have someone to blame all the school's issues on, and were "executed" one by one - or publicly defeated/humiliated by members of the student council.

Kanata's saving grace was Chiaki Morisawa, who taught him that he wasn't a god after all and shared with him his dream of becoming a hero. When it came time for Kanata's "execution", Chiaki invited him into his own unit Ryuseitai and competed along with him, which led to a much gentler defeat. Despite everyone else in the unit leaving after the disgraced deity was invited in, the two of them eventually rebuilt the unit to its current five-member team which is still going strong. Kanata himself, despite still having odd quirks like wanting to regular soak in any sort of water he comes across (fountains and ponds being the most popular), is fitting more and more into the life of a normal human and he currently also runs an aquarium that belongs to his family.

Powers/abilities: Even if he was once labeled as a god, Kanata has no actual supernatural powers to speak of - unless one counts his apparent ability to stay in the water for long periods of time without getting super wrinkly and walk around in wet clothing without getting rashes all the time. He is also apparently quite strong, which may be attributed to how often he carried around heavy objects with his marine bio club/aquarium duties. Though he doesn't appear to be properly trained in combat, he can throw a mean karate chop.

As an idol, Kanata is trained in performing for an audience - singing, dancing, and acting if need be. (Though he's less talented at the latter.) He can cook to some degree, though he's only ever interested in working with fish.

Speaking of fish, he claims to be able to talk with them. This is likely untrue.

Inventory: Kanata would be wearing his practice outfit and would have his cell phone in a pocket somewhere. Aside from these and the sentimental item he wouldn't have anything else on him.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A red super sentai figure belonging to Chiaki. Chiaki shared his dream of being a hero with Kanata, and this small representation of that dream would be worth keeping safe.
Gemstone: Primary color: deep blue. Secondary color: turquoise. Kanata's gemstone is shaped like a starfish and cut much like these.

Lost memory #1: He remembers everything about his time spent as a god with the cult (except that mentioned in #2) but he's forgotten the backstory and folklore about how the cult came to be.
Lost memory #2: He's forgotten Madara Mikejima completely. The man's influence on him isn't gone, he's just ignorant of it. Madara is a childhood friend whose parents were members of the cult and the police force (which was basically owned by the cult). He was the only one allowed to play with Kanata when they were young.
Altered memory: He believes he and Chiaki are in an actual romantic relationship back in their world, which is not the case.

CHARACTER

Name: Ib (The game never gives her a last name)
Canon: Ib
Canon point: Post game, Promise of Reunion ending
Age: 9

Summary:
Ib is a gentle, polite, and sheltered little girl from an upper class family. Her life was largely unremarkable until the day her parents took her to an art gallery to see an exhibition of the works of an eccentric artist, the late Weiss Guertena. Even though she's only nine, her parents have no problem allowing her to explore an art gallery unsupervised. She's a curious child though, and talks to many of the other visitors to the gallery, asking questions about various paintings. Which is fine until all the lights go out, all the people disappear, and Ib is exploring a spooky art gallery full of traps and puzzles and living paintings that try to kill her.

Considering her young age, it's remarkable how far she gets on her own. Proving to be brave and quite clever she solves a number of puzzles as the descends deeper into the dark art gallery. Upon meeting and rescuing Garry though she is very obviously relieved to no longer be alone, and is similarly glad when Mary joins them. She's also very kind hearted. Even after Mary's secret is revealed, even after she threatens Ib with a palette knife, Ib still worries about her and Garry has to convince her to leave Mary behind.

There are a few things that do break through her courage though. She is visibly disturbed when they find a portrait of her parents in the dark gallery, and passes out after narrowly escaping from an assault by multiple enemies at once. But with some encouragement from Garry, she pulls herself together and they keep going. She's also extremely upset if anything bad happens to Garry(like failing the doll room) and, while she doesn't want to hurt Mary, she will burn her painting if backed into a corner.

Powers/abilities:
Ib is a normal human girl.

That said, she's pretty strong willed for her age and has good reflexes. Honestly she never would've made it through the gallery otherwise. She's also very clever when it comes to puzzle solving but somewhat lacking in terms of reading comprehension and vocabulary. There's a lot of words she doesn't know. She's sheltered and thus a little naive, but is surprisingly level headed. When Garry gets fed up with being harassed by art exhibits she is quick to stop him from kicking or breaking them.

So... no powers or anything but she's a good girl who does her best. That's gotta count for something, right?

Inventory: A piece of lemon candy. (She's so well prepared)

OTHER

Sentimental item: Garry's lighter
Yes it's a fire hazard and something kids should not be playing with. But she's keeping it anyway. Garry is very important to her since he provided the emotional support she needed to make it out of the gallery. They formed the kind of fast bond that can only result from facing mortal peril together and she views Garry as the older brother she never had.
Gemstone: Red, Pink (A small red gem shaped like a rose, the very edge of the petals are a soft pink)

Lost memory #1: Witnessing Mary stabbing a mannequin head while muttering to herself. This is the first indication that Ib has that not all is right with her new friend. Without having witnessed that, Mary's sudden decision to attack her and Garry's declaration that Mary is a painting seemed to come out of nowhere.

Lost memory #2: Getting past the Lady in Blue to retrieve Garry's rose. She just remembers finding him lying there and then fetching his rose from what was probably a completely safe room? Must have been if she doesn't remember it, right?

Altered memory: Burning Mary's painting. Instead she remembers escaping after Mary catches them in her room and fleeing through the gallery with Mary in pursuit. This will leave her convinced they only just barely escaped from Mary and she's still out there somewhere.

CHARACTER

Name: Wave Kieadon Calerin
Canon: Original; I've got a quick-ish writeup of stuff up until game here
Canon point: Deciding not to let Dusk rule her life anymore--this will result in a somewhat "abnormal state of being" in behavior, as Wave is flip-flopping between the learned behaviors she's taken on to keep herself safe and how she actually wants to act, so contradictions will pop up from time to time!
Age: 24

Summary: Wave is a young woman who might have grown up content(ish) with her lot in life if not for having been isekai'd into another world at age 21. Growing up a noble without magic in a society that basically worships it, Wave was aware from a young age that she would be expected to marry a powerful mage that could take care of her and make up for her lack of power. But while traveling the worlds with a cast of odd characters and accidentally falling in love with the worst of the lot, Wave discovered that she was capable of a lot more than she or the rest of her world had ever given her credit for and that she liked making her own rules and being in control of her own destiny. Suddenly waking back up in Coriolis (after someone else found the Macguffin and used it to recreate their worlds) was like a getting hit with a bucket of cold water, especially since she and Ailanne had gotten so close, and Wave would have given anything to leave her world behind again.

After returning to Coriolis, Wave was married to Dusk, a master manipulator, the type of man who could stab somebody and then convince them that they'd done it to themselves and he was only there trying to help heal them. He took advantage of Wave's naivety and willingness to trust to convince her that he'd help her leave their world again, if only they could do xyz to help him establish himself first... It took almost two full years for Wave to realize that he'd always seek something more, that he'd never be satisfied and help her leave Coriolis. By this point, Wave had all but erased herself to become the "perfect wife" Dusk had sought, someone to help him raise his standing at court. Now, she's trying to claw back the person she used to be, to remember the reckless fool of a woman that tries to ride into battle armed with nothing more than a dagger and a riding crop rather and not the meek, docile woman that follows her husband's orders to hide in the carriage instead.

Powers/abilities: Does somehow remaining incredibly naive and trusting count as a power? Because that's about the extent of it... no, okay, so Wave is a normal human being. She has no propensity for magic, though it can be used on her without issue. She's got an intermediate level of skill with the twin daggers she fights with, and is a bit more competent at defending herself with a single, smaller dagger (this isn't to say she'll be taking anyone on and winning, but she did receive formal lessons on how to use her hidden dagger to defend herself long enough for a guard to step in, lmao). Wave is also reasonably competent at field medicine, having been taught by her mother. She's not a surgeon, not a doctor, and will not try to be, but she knows triage, she's done god-knows-how-many sets of sutures on injured warriors and guards, she can help run a field hospital, and she has a number of recipes for different tinctures, balms, poultices, and medicines passed down to her. Most of these are nature-based since Coriolis hasn't hit its industrial age yet, so their usefulness here is anyone's guess, but she can at least try??

Inventory: This very incongruous outfit with all its petticoats and nonsense (half-demolished after a TDM thread), a small dagger in a garter, and her bag, which she got outside of Coriolis and is basically a bag of holding. Inside it will be a pair of daggers and its maintenance kit (whetstone, oil, a couple of cloths), a pair of boots, a placemat-sized piece of woven cloth dyed a little bit like a galaxy and shot with silver, some basic first-aid supplies (mostly bandages), and an origami flower.

(Question for the mod: Assuming her bag of holding runs on hammerspace rules (let me know if I'm mistaken!), will her bag be able to hold anything further beyond this, such as her sentimental item or a change of clothes if she gets them in town? Or is it just a case of limiting what players can bring into the setting, be reasonable about using it-type deal?)

OTHER

Sentimental item: A molded eye patch/partial mask made to cover someone's left eye from forehead to jaw. This belongs to Scar, a man Wave knew as a child and reconnected with shortly before their world was lost. The two of them ventured together outside the worlds for a time, but were separated; when she returned to Coriolis, it was as though he'd never existed in the first place. Wave has a lot of complex feelings about this, since the two of them might have had something if she hadn't met Ailanne and because if their world hadn't been lost, she likely would have married him rather than Dusk, which would've probably???? been okay?? There's guilt, too, because a part of her can't let go of the idea that it was her fault that he never returned home (and in her mind, probably died), because she hadn't cared enough to go and find him after they'd been separated. That it's her fault because she chose to stay with Ai.

Gemstone: A Portuguese-cut gemstone of a dark blue-grey, similar to the color of waves during rough weather. Its secondary color is a bright golden-yellow that reflects the light. Though there are some facets that feel a bit rougher than others, the most notable damage is the center facet, which is clouded and foggy.

Lost memory #1: Ailanne. While Wave will remember her travels through the worlds, she won't remember his part in it or that he was important to her. The biggest effect from this is that she won't remember what it felt like to have a relationship with somebody that felt truly unconditional--and considering everything with Dusk was very conditional, it'll affect how she sees herself/how she believes others perceive her and the relationships she builds here.

Lost memory #2: Meeting with Thana, a Seer, and talking about what would happen in Wave's future (results were inconclusive). The cloth Wave carries was woven during this meeting and soaked in a font of pure magic for Thana to read; after, Thana gave it to Wave for safekeeping since it's basically a part of her given form.

Altered memory: Her betrothal to Dusk. While Wave had originally been tentatively betrothed to Dusk prior to leaving Coriolis, she'll remember instead that she was betrothed to Scar and their journey to Anire (the capital) was to test the waters prior to making it official. It was only after returning home and Scar seemingly disappearing from their entire history that she was betrothed to Dusk instead.

Sample: Turns out Wave responds much better to assholes than people who read as kind.

CHARACTER

Name: Naberius Tern
Canon: The Locked Tomb Series
Canon point: His death in Gideon the Ninth
Age: 23

Summary: Prince Naberius Tern is the cavalier primary of the Crown Princess Coronabeth Tridentarius and Princess Ianthe Tridentarius, twin necromancers he is sworn to serve with his life, acting as bodyguard, servant, companion, and occasional snack for them both. He was born to the last cavalier primary of the Third House and raised from birth to the role, swearing his oath of service to the princesses when he was fourteen and they were twelve, from which point it was all more or less downhill. Coronabeth and Ianthe made Naberius a party to their intensely troubled sibling dynamic, which is undergirded by Coronabeth’s secret - the prettier, more charismatic twin and crown princess is not a necromancer, and her sister Ianthe has to work twice as hard to act as necromancer for the pair of them to protect this secret, which would cost Coronabeth her rank and social standing if discovered. Naberius was made an unhappy party to this secret as well, but protects it as fervently as Ianthe does, training Coronabeth in secret as a cavalier to keep her happy while treating her in all other ways as his necromancer, and his preferred necromancer at that, a deeply lopsided devotion she does not return in kind.

In terms of personality, Naberius (Babs, to Coronabeth), is like an unfortunate collision between a snappy purse dog and an Instagram fitness influencer best known for the callout posts about their lousy behaviour and low quality hair gel endorsements. He is arrogant, prickly, sarcastic, paranoid, prone to conspiracy theories, condescending, overly fond of lip gloss, vain, a sore loser, whiny, and all around ten pounds of unpleasantness shoved into a five pound bag - but much of this is a product of the terrible conditions he has to work under. Necromancers of the Third House literally bite chunks out of their cavaliers to fuel their magic on occasion, and Naberius is so used to this that he doesn’t blink an eye at getting chunks of himself bitten out. He is constantly on the defensive because of having to navigate being a proxy, scapegoat, and buffer between the Tridentarii twins to boot, and paranoid and conspiratorial from protecting their secret from outsiders. In no way does it make up for his many deficiencies of character, but at the very least, there are reasons that Naberius is the way he is - and the possibility he could stop being so much that way in a new context.

Powers/abilities: Naberius is an exceptional duelist, reaching the top five in the listings by the age of twenty three. His primary weapon, as with all cavaliers, is the rapier, and his off-hand is a spring-loaded three bladed knife. He has a high pain tolerance, and is otherwise a healthy, very fit young human.

Inventory: His rapier, with silver hilt; his trident knife; a well-tailored outfit.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A thick golden ring set with a purple sapphire flanked by amethysts, engraved with the initials B.B. on the inside of the band back to back to look like a butterfly unless you know what you’re looking at. This ring was a gift Naberius gave to Coronabeth in a fit of solidarity after he began teaching her to fight in secret, the two Bs back to back (Coronabeth and Naberius), meant to represent them united in keeping her secret safe as two cavaliers against the world. He won’t remember who it belongs to, but he knows, somehow, that it’s desperately important to him.
Gemstone: Primary color lavender, secondary color pale blue. It is a trillion cut gemstone whose secondary color is only visible at certain angles under the light, despite being highly polished and well-cut. It is chipped and abraded on one side.

Lost memory #1: Coronabeth Tridentarius. Naberius will lose his memories of Coronabeth Tridentarius having ever existed, meaning he will remember himself as the cavalier primary to the sole heir, Ianthe. The loss of memories of Coronabeth will make Naberius more lonely and unhappy, because his respite from Ianthe (who is, let’s say, a fun time) was always his service to Coronabeth (who is also a fun time, but in a different, also bad way). Without her, Naberius will be more open to serving others, seeking to fill a void he can’t quite place but will consistently feel.
Lost memory #2: Naberius's own death. He was stabbed from behind with his own rapier in the process of Ianthe Tridentarius' ascension to the necromantic state of Lyctorhood, wherein his soul was consumed by her in the Lyctoral process to serve as an undying source of power. Lacking this memory will lead Naberius to believe he was attacked by an unknown third party, supporting his paranoid ideas about the so-called conspiracy of Canaan House. He will be more concerned about personal attacks on his well-being as a result.
Altered memory: Naberius believes Ianthe Tridentarius is the Crown Princess of Ida. In canon, this title is held by her sister, Coronabeth, but Naberius will now remember Ianthe as being the sole heir to her parents' station, with the attendant privileges of rank that go with it. As a result, Naberius will have a more deferential and protective attitude towards Ianthe, along with a colder, more repressed attitude towards everything else.

CHARACTER

Name: Phillip Biqe Reston
Canon: Tales of the Rays. General world info is here and then Phil’s page is here.
Canon point: Chapter 20 of Last Cradle, the current and final main story arc

Phil is effectively terminally ill from both his innate anima deficiency and the anima contamination/damage he suffered as the result of his experiments and exoflecting Phantom. It’s stated in canon that he only has around ten years left to live; he’s rather frail physically and requires a special medicine to help manage his condition and prolong his life. Also, while it's never stated explicitly in canon, a close look at his official art makes it fairly clear that his monocle isn't just for show-- he's likely at least mostly blind in his right eye given its lack of color and smaller pupil in comparison to his other eye.
Age: 35

Summary: An innately talented mirrist despite his sickly nature, Phil grew up on the rural island of Odanse alongside his two childhood friends, Ix Nieves and Mileena Weiss. Phil, quiet and shy with low self-esteem, found himself falling for Mileena, all the while knowing that she only had eyes for Ix, who was everything he wasn’t: popular, charismatic, dependable, and strong. His resentment grew until one day he invited Mileena to a picnic at the Glasswater Woods with him, saying that since Ix was busy with work, they didn’t need to wait for him. This proved to be a fatal mistake, as the pair of them were attacked by monsters and only saved by Ix’s timely arrival. In a fit of jealousy, he grabbed a shard from his own shattered mirrage and stabbed the unconscious Ix with an intent to kill, reasoning that no one would ever know what really happened. It was just at that moment that Ix came to; while surprisingly less angry with Phil than one might expect, he told Phil that they should keep this between them and never speak of it to anyone else.

After that, Phil fled to Sellund for his studies and never returned to Odanse, ignoring all of the letters Ix sent him out of his own shame and regret for what he'd done. There he remained until one day Mileena showed up with news that Ix had been killed in an attack on Odanse launched by the Bifrost Empire. Devastated and furious, Mileena swore revenge on all of Bifrost, and Phil vowed to use his knowledge and research to aid her in that goal. Together the two of them developed the Kaleidoscope, a magical weapon of mass destruction, and fired it indiscriminately on Bifrost, obliterating the country and all of its people. However, the use of the Kaleidoscope allowed the Voidstorm to consume the majority of the world, leaving only a small portion intact. Consumed by guilt for his role in the destruction of the world, Phil has dedicated his entire life since that point to atoning for what he’s done (including the exoflection of the third Ix, the game’s protagonist) with the intent of using what little remains of his life to right his past wrongs. As a result, he places very little value on his own life and has a tendency to overwork himself in his quest to find a way to save the world; while he’s gotten considerably better about it by his current canon point, he still has a ways to go on the self-sacrificing front.

Powers/abilities: Phil is a mirrist (specifically of the fusion type), which is sort of like the Tales of the Rays version of a mage. As the Biqe and a direct descendent of the goddess Dana, he is the current strongest mirrist in the world, though his ability to use his powers is limited by his poor physical health.

The primary ability of mirrists is what is known as "exoflection," or the ability to manifest physical objects based on something they picture in their mind. Depending on the mirrist’s innate power, this can be anything from a key to a lock all the way up to an entire continent (although for most mirrists the latter would involve the use of a Kaleidoscope to amplify their abilities and do an anima search if the thing they’re exoflecting – like a piece of another world – isn’t something they’re familiar with), or even a person. However, this power has limits: the size of the item that can be exoflected is directly dependent on the mirrist’s own power level, and they can’t exoflect something they can’t picture in their mind (so, for instance, Phil couldn’t exoflect something like a cell phone or a car because he’s never seen one before and thus has no idea what they’re like).

Phil is also capable of opening transfer gates to teleport people, though it’s stated in canon that doing so causes a massive strain both on the person opening the gate and the person or people using it and thus should be used with caution.

When it comes to offensive artes, Phil has a fairly wide range of abilities, including the ability to put up shields to temporarily obstruct enemies. While he’s capable of fighting on the front lines if needed, we see in canon that doing so exhausts him and leaves him vulnerable to attack. In other words, he’s not going to be doing much combat unless absolutely needed.

Phil has innate nerfs to his abilities in the sense that using too much mirristry causes him actual physical harm—at one point he ends up coughing up blood after overuse of his powers, and teleporting a large number of people in rapid succession causes him to collapse with a high fever. Obviously if anything needs to be nerfed further, go for it! I’m well aware of how potentially game-breaking his abilities could be haha.

Inventory: His mirrage (the monocle he wears), his regular outfit, and a container with a few doses of his medicine.

OTHER

Sentimental item: The thigh belt pack that belongs to Marcus, his mirrite. A mirrite is essentially a summoned familiar created from a part of their mirrist’s heart; to say that he and Marcus are close would be an understatement. They’ve canonically made vows to be together for the rest of their lives and then die together when Phil finally passes away.
Gemstone: Purple and black; his is decidedly faded and cloudy with a few thin cracks, a reflection of his own physical condition.

Lost memory #1: Phantom, the clone of himself that he exoflected to test the possibility of exoflecting a copy of one’s current self rather than from the past. He won’t remember anything about Phantom’s existence or about exoflecting him, but he’ll have an inescapable sense that something is somehow missing and he doesn't know what it is.
Lost memory #2: Stabbing Ix that day in the Glasswater Woods. That will take a good chunk of the personal guilt he feels off his shoulders, but on the other hand, if he regains that memory, whoo boy is that going to be messy. It will just be replaced by, you know, the guilt he feels for thinking the Kaleidoscope was all his fault.
Altered memory: Phil will believe that HE was the primary one responsible for both the inception and creation of the Kaleidoscope that wiped out the entirety of Bifrost and caused the Voidstorm to consume most of the world rather than Gefion/Mileena.

CHARACTER

Name: Kuja
Canon: Final Fantasy IX
Canon point: Endgame, after the formation of Memoria. Kuja finds the crystal of origin, font of all life, and it is within reach to destroy, ensuring there will never be a world without him-- and, uh, now he's here instead.
Age: 24

Summary:

◎ Kuja is a sadistic, self-loathing narcissist with little regard for the lives of others, an experienced faux-obsequious grifter, a poster child for arrested development -- and someone simultaneously proud of and deeply disgusted with his origins. If that last bit doesn't make sense... good! It's hard to make sense of being born to destroy the only beauty you've ever known.

◎ He's very playful, adores luxury, and is both elegant and eloquent. Theatre is what he has instead of empathy.

◎ He is a Genome created with the form of an adult, and given the role of 'Angel of Death' to Gaia. He swiftly fell in possessive, selfish love with the world he was meant to destroy, rejecting his dead homeworld and bucking under the reigns of his master. Thus he schemed to surpass his master in power for years -- but when he got what he wanted, he immediately learned he was fated to soon die. He proceeded to have a literal world-ending meltdown about it.

Powers/abilities:

so like. i already was like OKAY I'M TAKING THIS AWAY for the worst of it but in general for nerfs. good god. do what you need to do. im sorry this will get kind of long.

◎ Kuja disdains weaponry because he doesn't need it. He's a powerful red mage, master of both black (destructive) and white (protective, healing) magic. Notable spells include spell Teleport, which he can use on a group of people at once, and a big cool signature spell -- Flare Star! He can't toss around a lot of those though. He gets tired.

◎ Can use magic to float around. He loves using magic to float around. You think he's gonna get dirt on his nice boots if he has a choice? No.

◎ Thanks to bringing Queen Brahne's soul into his body, he is now capable of attaining Trance. This is a state of heightened power brought on by pain, adrenaline, and high emotion. Trance makes him significantly more powerful when he was already kind of goddamn broken.

In FF9 this lets him actually start tossing around Flare Stars like they're nothing, and lets him use Ultima, with which he decimated his homeworld. H3 even used the power of his first, sustained Trance to will into existence a pathway through time and space to the origin of all life so he could try to break it.

...anyway, I am taking that away! He can still Trance, but it's over after 10 minutes, max, and no longer lets him break reality.

Queen Brahne's still in there, for the record. I won't be playing them as two characters in one or anything, but this will have some effects.

◎ Difficult to injure. While never explicitly stated, he's likely passively using white magic to make himself more durable. Bastard has Auto-Protect on.

◎ Genomes were conceived as vessels to house an outside soul. Despite having a soul of his own, Kuja is still capable of this, and in general is able to manipulate the.. stuff...of dead souls, able to summon forth monsters and craft living dolls.

◎ Capable of telepathy. This is a Genome thing rather than a Kuja specific thing. Psychic alien furries!

◎ Can innately command the creatures of Terra. Probably irrelevant!

Inventory:
◎ His clothes, though they're quite tattered due to his canon point.

◎ Some spare makeup because, honestly, who goes to kill their dad without some emergency eyeshadow?

◎ I'm also gonna say he had his personal Tetra Master deck with him because it's funny.

OTHER

Sentimental item: A forged theatre ticket, that claims it allows admission for one to the play 'I Want To Be Your Crow.' Kuja has no idea what the hell this is -- it belongs to Vivi, the first black mage he ever created. Because of his memory alterations Kuja doesn't recall that he feels both revulsion and a strong sense of identification with Vivi. Instead, he just has a vague sense of pride in himself in a job well done (that little prototype is actually powerful!), and a patronizing amusement at Vivi's many efforts to stand against him.

Gemstone: A round gem with a divot in the middle. Primary color is blue, secondary is red -- the outer part of the sphere is blue, and the inner is red. Its qualities as a stone are similar to alexandrite, with the two colors changing places under daylight vs starlight.

The damage is based off of this round gem -- though it of course isn't in four pieces, the gem has lines of cracks where the pictured one does.

Lost memory #1:

His purpose. Kuja knows he was made for something, ordered to fulfill some grand goal despite his creator considering him a failure -- but it is stricken entirely from his mind what that goal was. He can recall that he was very, very good at what he was meant for, despite his master's criticism. But what was it? What was the tune to which he was forced to dance, until the day he could strike down the conductor...?

Without this knowledge, Kuja no longer understands...well... himself! His own easy brutality feels alien in origin. He loses his easiest justification for violence -- "I was made for this, and there is none better at it than I" -- and will end up, like, thinking twice more before deciding hurting people is his best option. He's not magically capable of empathy now but pragmatically, maybe murder isn't as good of an option anymore.

Lost memory #2:

He doesn't remember why he hides his tail.

The self-disgust with that aspect of his body is just, poof, gone. It'll still have an illusion cast over it when he arrives to the game, but when that naturally soon wears off he'll just. Have it out! With the dysphoria toward his tail is also gone (some of) the motivation behind why he heavily changed his appearance with magic -- my man is gonna start getting red roots and not even care. He still knows he wants to be an independent person different from other Genomes, but... the big physical shame is gone.

Altered memory:

His memory of how he created the black mages has changed. He remembers inventing the method all by himself, rather than basing it directly off the method of his own creation. This eases some of the... very intense.. disgust he feels toward the mages as fellow weapons of war that are given life only to kill. Thanks to memory loss #1 he doesn't even remember being a weapon of war! So... to Kuja, instead of a disgusting mirror of himself, they're just some funny little murder dolls he made to sell to the queen. The emotional element is gone.

CHARACTER

Name: Phantom, real name Lucien
Canon: Arknights | His page, his personal event
Canon point: After Phantom and the Crimson Solitaire, returning Rhodes Island.
Age: Unknown, appears mid-20's to early 30's.

Summary: On the surface, Phantom looks like a Phantom of the Opera expy, a spot of gothic horror in a technologically-advanced, post-apocalyptic dystopia, but the rabbit hole goes deeper than that. He was orphaned and then taken in by the Crimson Troupe as a child and raised as both a stage actor and assassin-- their most promising one at that. He also contracted Oripathy growing up, an illness that mutated his vocal cords such that anyone who listened to his singing would experience intense physical and psychological damage, which intensified his loneliness and mental instability. During his debut as lead actor and assassin, Phantom experienced a psychotic break that made him sing, killing many Troupe members with his mutation.

Phantom then spent the next several years as a wandering assassin-for-hire, memories muddled due to the trauma he sustained that night, and seeking answers for what truly happened. He eventually joined the paramilitary forces of Rhodes Island, a pharmaceutical company, because he believed it would be the answer to all of his questions. He never mingled and only interacted with coworkers who could go a few minutes without lecturing him on his disregard for his personal safety, but this suited him quite well-- despite appearances, he's a shy individual who comes off as rude in interpersonal interactions because he barely knows how to deal with people.

Foolishly, Phantom allowed himself to be lured back to his homeland, ending up captured and brainwashed by the Crimson Troupe, forced into breaking others for the sake of their plays. This forced Rhodes Island's field commander to launch a rescue mission, and was successful in bringing him home with his mind free, though unknown to all of them Phantom's brainwashing merely went dormant, ready to be activated again when the Troupe deems the time is right.

Powers/abilities: On his journal to save on comment space.

Inventory: Just his Rhodes Island-issued Originium-enhanced twin daggers, and the outfit he wore in the castle, including saber.

OTHER

Sentimental item: One of Shalem's earrings, a twisted vertical bar in gold (or gold-plated steel) that comes in a pair. Shalem came from the same village, was absorbed into the Troupe at the same time, and was the only other person to run away from them, though he did it earlier and joined Rhodes Island earlier. For the longest time, Phantom did not give Shalem any thought aside from vague recognition because they were never close as children, but has recently started trusting the man like an old friend after he helped save Phantom in Crimson Solitaire. Shalem is one of only two people who Phantom allows to give him medical assistance, and the only person he can hear a rebuke from without wanting to disappear.

Gemstone: Red primary, black secondary. It looks like a piece of brecciated jasper (red jasper melded with other minerals) shaped vaguely to look like a bird, but with the head broken off. The figurine is smooth except for where the head used to be, which is jagged and rough.

Lost memory #1: The Troupe Leader. Only few facts are known about him because he doesn't appear to his members often, but he personally taught Phantom how to sing (and at the same time chipped away at his sanity through unknown means), thus Phantom knows more about him than almost everyone else aside from the Troupe's Playwright. Phantom will believe that he worked at his singing voice by himself, and never realize that there's a reason why he had that psychotic break during his debut. This won't prevent him from concluding that the Troupe has a leader, he'll just assume he doesn't know that person.

Lost memory #2: How to manifest his Phantom in the Mirror, and that he can even do it in the first place. His clone lets him do a lot of things that I'm not willing to deal with due to the amount of micromanagement required. This is mostly to keep me from tearing my hair out, but ICly, Phantom will be much less complacent and reckless in combat.

Altered memory: Ms. Christine, his (possibly supernatural) pet cat, leaving him when he made the choice to return to his homeland due to a dream about his Troupe peers, and he will assume that she abandoned him because of that-- and think it's justified, because that's how Crimson Solitaire happened. She came to him at a low point when he was still with the Troupe, and turned into his primary emotional support. He relied on her for everything, from being the barrier between himself and others, to using her pawprint as his signature (but lbr who wouldn't make their cat their whole world?).

By altering this memory, Phantom will have adjusted his attitude to interpersonal interactions because he believes he has gone sometime without her, and while still shy, he will be less likely to mess up because he thinks he has more experience in dealing with other people-- and make it easier to get him into things. Naturally, he will also be more sad and more self-depreciating because he'll believe it's his fault she left him. Maybe he'll learn to stop stupidly chasing things so much and keep himself out of easily-avoided trouble? Maybe, maybe not.

CHARACTER

Name: Judai Yuki
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
Canon point: Post-movie
Age: ~18

Summary: As an avid fan and player of the card game, Duel Monsters, Judai centres his entire identity and life around it. From attending a school specifically designed around the game to devoting the rest of his life to investigating Duel Spirit-related anomalies around the world, he lives and breathes Duel Monsters. As expectant of a player of a children's card game, Judai is overly friendly, out-going, and easily excitable, often acting like a very loud, excited dog, which can be extremely annoying for those who want nothing to do with him or who can't keep up with his endless energy. His downside is that he's kind of an idiot; despite realizing that life is more than just dueling, he still shows very little interest in anything besides the kids' card game and its Duel Spirits. Underneath all that bubbly personality though, he carries a heavy burden as the Supreme King, a tyrannical ruler who committed mass genocide. Through a despairing loss of humanity and outside forces, he spent a period of time ruling with a heavy hand and killing anyone who opposed him, including children. This event has caused him to grow up into the adult that he is now, who can understand that the world isn't as innocent or playful as it can appear and that he needs to think twice before jumping into situations. At the same time, though, he still retains much of his happier exterior and lives to make each day better than the last.

Powers/abilities:

⬥ Spiritual Sensitivity: Judai has the ability to both see and control the spirits of Duel Monsters. Much later in the series, he can even materialize them into the real world.

⬥ Supernatural Immunity: After fusing with Yubel, Judai is immune to supernatural influences and manipulations. He is also able to see through illusions and sense paranormal activities.

⬥ Enhanced Physique: His fusion with Yubel has also increased his physical abilities, allowing him to jump great distances and sustain greater amounts of damage than a normal human being.

Inventory:

⬥ Cellphone
⬥ Crackers
⬥ Deck
⬥ Drawstring Bag
⬥ Duel Disk
⬥ Journal
⬥ Laptop

OTHER

Sentimental item: Johan's deck - Johan is Judai's best friend, someone who canonly loves him. As decks mean everything to their owner, Judai will feel compelled to protect it and return it to Johan once they meet again.

Gemstone: A simple and small round red (primary) and white (secondary) gem; it's the perfect size to put on a ring or to lose

Lost memory #1: Being the Supreme King - this will revert Judai back to his pre-Supreme King days, where he would run head-first into situations without thinking it through. He will be more carefree and laid back as well.
Lost memory #2: Yubel - Yubel is the prime reason why he became the Supreme King yet they are also Judai's canon love interest, at least his past incarnation's love interest. By forgetting them, he will essentially also forget his deep bond with them, why certain events happened in a particular way, and also reinforce his tenancy to live without a care in the world.
Altered memory: Supreme King's Identity - while also forgetting that he was the Supreme King, Judai will believe that a stranger was the Supreme King. Again, this will reinforce his beliefs that he hasn't done anything wrong and that he can continue living this carefree life where he hasn't learned anything.

Name: Luminitrium
Preferred pronoun(s): They/Them & She/Her

CHARACTER

Name: Dainsleif
Canon: Genshin Impact
Canon point: Post-Archon Quest Chapter 2: Act 4 “Requiem of the Echoing Depths”.
Nothing notable other than being cursed to hell and back.
Age: At least +500 years old.

Summary: Note: Contains spoilers for Dainsleif's backstory:

Dainsleif is a man who has been wandering the world of Teyvat for 500 or so years ever since he had been saddled with a curse that has enabled him to live on past the tragedy of the once-bolstering nation of Khaenri'ah. In the past, he was a knight captain of the royal guard. He is also a man who reportedly met with the Traveler's sibling (Lumine) many years ago and spent time journeying before their separation, as well as inevitable result of them being on opposite sides. While the Traveler's sibling sided with Dainsleif's mortal enemy, the Abyss, he of course was and is still against the faction.

He later befriends the Traveler, though he is a quiet man who mostly stays away from the hustle and bustle of most people in society. He's also an evidently loyal man, though outspoken about his disdain of the gods and the Abyss, but it is clear he still cares about his people, no matter the lengthy passage of time. This includes people he once previously knew (like Halfdan.)

Dainsleif is a stubborn individual, unafraid to fight and persist even in the face of a dangerous curse that causes him pain in each day of his life. He's perceptive, and always seeking knowledge or to better his position, holding a curious nature as well as unafraid to ask questions on things he lacks insight or particulars on. That being said, Dainsleif is not above giving praise or remarking on others who are unrelated to his goals, not exactly the type to resist giving his opinion when he sees fit to do so.

Powers/abilities: Immortality: Strictly of the non-aging variety; Dainsleif has received a curse that allows him to be frozen at his current age, no matter how many years have gone by. Though it grants him longevity, it also is implied/reference to be debilitating, causing pain at various, constant intervals. As a side note, if this 'curse' is removed from him, he will sustain irreparable damage to his body and eventually die (in what is implied to be a rather painful manner.)

Teleportation: Dainsleif has the ability to travel through teleportation portals that others cannot access (though he cannot control where he lands in those.)

Inhuman Speed: He is able to enhance his own speed with the power of a strange, unidentified energy/element that appears to take on an odd blue, whispy appearance whenever he utilizes it, trailing behind him a bit.

Telekinesis: Dainsleif is able to manipulate objects or things with a strange element from afar, which appears to be not too unlike a form of telekinesis as he can use this to throw people aside, increase pressure on their person, or keep them in place (restrain.)

Combat Skill: Dainsleif used to be a former knight captain and knows how to fight in battle, presumably with a blade as well as unarmed combat.

Inventory: Nada.

OTHER

Sentimental item: Inteyvat Flowers; specifically ones Lumine had laid out for hilichurls.
Gemstone: Red (primary), blue (secondary); appears traditionally "diamond-shaped" with a thin crack towards the back of the gemstone.

Lost memory #1: The first time he met Lumine; self-explanatory in that he doesn't his first 'meeting' of the blond female. The effect is notable in that it allows him to place further distance between himself and her; he already has resolved to face her consistently (and has), but first impressions are valuable, after all. It is one less golden memory he has of someone he once called a companion.
Lost memory #2: He no longer recalls the name of the Kingdom he hails from. This one doesn't affect him much because he is a devoted man to his mission regardless of the fact he is missing a piece of the puzzle. Though it might make him a bit uncertain of his current state, as if he's standing on shaky ground, and wondering if the curse afflicting him is the cause by this point compared to the other lost memory. It could make him more cold towards others, not wanting them to get any closer due to it...
Altered memory: Dainsleif now recalls Traveler/"Aether" as someone he has spent time with on more than a couple occasions, and having encountered him more often when he was supposedly alone in his original memory. In contrast, this does not alter his outside persona much, and simply changes how he views Aether as someone he's come to know a bit better.
